Abstract
In a computer keyboard, a stand case is disposed in the upper portion of the keyboard and a stand is capable of being contained in the stand case. a lamp head with LED lamps is attached on the top of the stand. Switching on or off the LED is in interlock with the folding-unfolding operation of the stand.
Description
Description
COMPUTER KEYBOARD WITH ILLUMINATOR
Technical Field
[I] The present invention relates to a keyboard with an illuminator, and more particularly to a keyboard having an illuminator capable of being telescoped into a keyboard.
Background Art
[2] As computer use has increased over the years, computer use under a dark environment has increased as well. Under a dark environment, for example, in a living room or in the dusk, the user is able to view the screen but oftentimes is unable to see the computer keyboard or to visually recognize a key position or script on the key top and thus are hard to locate by feel. At times, the user often presses the wrong key and therefore the user can not sufficiently use a computer under such an environment.
[3] Many desk lamps can be used for the computer user, but these devices require their own power source and thus take one of the limiting power outlets on the wall. Furthermore, a desk lamp is simply too encumbered with its bulky shade and arm.
Disclosure
[4] In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a keyboard with an illuminator comprising: a stand case disposed in the upper portion, which is capable of containing a stand; a stand composed of telescopeable sections so as to be manually slid into the stand case when it is not in use. a stand is inserted into a stand case; an lamp head attached on the top of the stand, installing light emitting diode (hereafter mentioned as LED) lamps inside; an LED switching circuit to be switched on and off in interlock with the folding-unfolding operation of the stand.
[5] In view of the above-mentioned facts, the primary object of the present invention is to provide a keyboard with an illuminator which is capable of being contained in the keyboard with less space and less consumption power.
Description Of Drawings
[6] FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing an embodiment of a keyboard according to the present invention;
[7] FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the keyboard in use shown in FIG.l;
[8] FIG. 3 is a partially enlarged view of the stand;
[9] FIG. 4 is a cross sectional diagram showing an embodiment of the stand;
[10] FIG. 5 is a detailed diagram showing an embodiment of the lamp head;
[II] FIG. 6 is a circuit diagram showing an embodiment of a switching circuit that switches on and off the LED lamps.
Best Mode
[12] Now, a preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[13] FIG. 1 and 2 show a preferred embodiment of the keyboard 10 to which the present invention is applied. The stand 20 is disposed in the upper end of the keyboard, which supports the lamp head 30.
[14] As shown in FIG. 3 which illustrates a front view of the stand (a) and a rear view of the stand (b), the stand 20 is composed of manually telescopeable sections which is most suitable as a shape for extending or shortening. By sliding the stand 20 into the stand case 40 , the stand 20 can be contained in a stand case 40. The surface of the stand 20 is curved so that the lamp head 30 is leaned a little toward the center of the keyboard 10 . It is more efficient as a position of illuminating the keyboard 10 since the angle of incidence becomes nearer to a right angle.
[15] As shown in FIG. 4, the stand case 40 provided in the upper end of the keyboard 10 is composed of an inward space capable of containing the stand 20, so as to resolve the problem that the stand 20 causes an unnecessary obstacle when it is not in use. When the user picks up and pulls upward the lamp head 30, the stand 20 becomes extended and assumed a fixed position, while the user pushes down the lamp head 30, the stand 20 becomes telescoped and slid into the stand case 40.
[16] Note that the stand 20 fulfills a role of operating the LED switch 36 which goes to an ON state when the electric points 37, 38 become contacted each other, while an OFF state when the points 37, 38 are disconnected. The two electric points 37, 38 are installed inside the stand 20. One is connected to power source and the other to the anode of the LED 31.
[17] As shown in FIG. 5, the lamp head 30 is composed of the LED lamp 31 which is a source of light; the circuit board 34; the reflection device 33 which reflects light generated by the LED 31; the lamp window 32 made of translucent plastic which alters light beam characteristics of light emitted by the LED 31, e.g., color, diffusion effect, etc. so as to provide different light quality as well as provide a soft glow that can be very pleasing to the user.
[18] The switching circuit, as shown in FIG. 6, is constituted by the LED switch 36 that is switched on and off in interlock with the folding-unfolding operation of the stand 20, and the LED lamps 31. These components are connected in series. One end of the LED switch 36 is connected to power source V , while the other end is connected to the anode of the LED 31, the cathode of the LED 31 being connected to ground. The power source V is a DC constant voltage source supplied from the computer to the keyboard or from the installed battery if it is a wireless keyboard. [19] While particular embodiments according to the present invention have been il-
lustrated and described above, it will be clear that the present invention can take a variety of forms and embodiments within the scope of the appended claims.
