Description

ACOUSTIC REPRODUCTION SYSTEM FOR SOFAS, ARMCHAIRS, BEDS AND THE LIKE Technical Field
The present invention relates to an acoustic reproduction system for sofas, armchairs, beds and the like. Background Art
Currently, domestic acoustic reproduction systems, for example of the so-called Dolby Surround, Home Theater types and the like, are usually free-standing in the room, with connecting cables and supports, and this practice has various drawbacks which affect life in the home.
First of all, the components of the system constitute a bulk which is often unacceptable in smaller homes. Secondly, they are rather expensive to install, are aesthetically unpleasant for the room and can constitute a risk for the health and safety of the people who live in the home. Disclosure of the Invention
The aim of the present invention is to obviate the above-mentioned drawbacks, by providing an acoustic reproduction system for sofas, armchairs, beds and the like which allows to eliminate the space occupation of the various components, increase home safety and reduce installation costs.
Within this aim, an object of the present invention is to provide an apparatus which is simple, relatively easy to provide in practice, safe in use, effective in operation, and has a relatively low cost.
This aim and this and other objects, which will become better apparent hereinafter, are achieved by the present acoustic reproduction system for sofas, armchairs, beds and the like, characterized in that it comprises a plurality of speakers of different sizes, fitted in respective receptacles provided within the sofa, armchair or bed, each one of said speakers being associated with respective supports for fixing within said receptacles. Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become better apparent from the following detailed description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of an acoustic reproduction system for sofas, armchairs, beds and the like according to the invention, illustrated by way of non-limiting example in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a schematic front view of an acoustic reproduction system, according to the invention, associated with a sofa;
Figure 2 is a schematic side elevation view of the system; Figure 3 is a schematic and partially sectional side elevation view of the system according to the invention. Ways of carrying out the Invention
In the exemplary embodiment that follows, individual characteristics may actually be interchanged with other different characteristics that exist in other exemplary embodiments.
Moreover, it is noted that anything found to be already known during the patenting process is understood not to be claimed and to be the subject of a disclaimer.
With reference to Figure 1, the reference numeral 1 generally designates an acoustic reproduction system for sofas, armchairs, beds and the like according to the invention.
The system can be installed in any kind of sofa, armchair or bed of any shape and size (single, three-quarter, double) and of any material, origin and manufacture, or in any other piece of furniture or interior decoration component which has at least one sitting portion.
The system can be of the Dolby Surround, Home Theater, AC3, Hi- Fi, Dual Mono, Mono or Stereo type.
Merely by way of example, reference is made hereinafter to a sofa, generally designated by the reference numeral 2, with which the system according to the invention is associated. Of course, any other piece of furniture provided with a sitting portion can be considered instead of the sofa 2.
The acoustic reproduction system for sofas, armchairs, beds and the like or other furniture components, according to the invention comprises advantageously a plurality of speakers 3, 4, 5 of different sizes, which are associated with external power supply means 6, which are mounted in respective receptacles 7 provided within the sofa 2.
Conveniently, each one of the speakers 3, 4, 5 is associated with a respective support 8 for fixing within the receptacle 7. Each support 8 can be made for example of metallic material or of another suitable material and can be fixed in the respective receptacle 7 by means of screws or other equivalent connecting elements, so as to become monolithic with the sofa, stable and safe.
The amplified or non-amplified speakers conveniently comprise low- subwoofers 3, arranged in a lower region, midrange speakers 4 at the center, and tweeters 5 at the top; preferably, each one of the speakers 3, 4, 5 is of the prefabricated and commercial type and conveniently comprises a medium-power amplifier and speaker.
Further, sockets 9 for individual headphones are provided, preferably in an upper region.
The speakers 3, 4, 5 and the sockets 9 are connected to the external power supply means 6 by means of ordinary conducting wires 10.
The external power supply means 6, associated with an audio signal cable 11 , comprise at least one simple or surround-effect amplifier; as an alternative, they can comprise at least one electric power supply and/or one electric transformer, which operates with electric current at 220 V and is provided with fuse-type protections against short circuits and overloads.
The system can be connected wirelessly to other audio/video devices (for example a monitor or others) by way of radio waves; as an alternative, such connection can be provided by means of a single multicore cable. Each one of the receptacles 7 of the speakers 3, 4, 5, provided in easily accessible regions, is associated with a respective hatch 12 for inspection, intervention and maintenance, which is closed by means of an appropriately provided lock or other standards-compliant quick-locking means.
The system is characterized in that the audio/ 12- V mains connections are of the male-female coupling type in order to allow the displacements needed to clean the home.
The system is wired and fixed according to safety standards. The operation of the system according to the invention is fully intuitive.
It has thus been shown that the invention achieves the proposed aim and objects.
The dimensions are in fact reduced, since the system is fully arranged inside the piece of furniture, so as to free the space occupied by the acoustic components.
Home safety is increased, since heavy elements which are not fixed to cables are eliminated. Elements which are aesthetically unpleasant for the home environment, such as rods, pedestals, cables, are reduced, and noise pollution is reduced.
The system can be adapted to any type of piece of furniture and to any existing source system.
Finally, the installation expenses required for a traditional system are reduced. The invention thus conceived is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the appended claims.
All the details may further be replaced with other technically equivalent ones. The embodiment of the present invention shall be carried out in the most scrupulous compliance with the statutory and regulatory provisions related to the products of the invention or correlated thereto and following any required authorization of the corresponding competent authorities, with particular reference to regulations related to safety, environmental pollution and health.
In practice, the materials used, as well as the contingent shapes and dimensions, may be any according to requirements without thereby abandoning the scope of the protection of the appended claims.

Claims

1. An acoustic reproduction system for sofas, armchairs, beds and the like, characterized in that it comprises a plurality of speakers (3, 4, 5) of different sizes, associated with external power supply means (6), fitted in respective receptacles (7) provided within the sofa (2), armchair or bed, each one of said speakers (3, 4, 5) being associated with respective supports (8) for fixing within said receptacles (7).
2. The system according to claim 1, characterized in that said speakers comprise subwoofers (3), midrange speakers (4) and tweeters (5), which are amplified or not amplified.
3. The system according to claims 1 and 2, characterized in that each one of said speakers (3, 4, 5) comprises a medium-power amplifier and speaker.
4. The system according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that it comprises sockets (9) for individual headphones.
5. The system according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said external power supply means (6) comprise at least one simple or surround-effect amplifier.
6. The system according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said external power supply means (6) comprise at least one electric power supply and/or an electric transformer, provided with fuse-type protections against short circuits and overloads.
7. The system according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said receptacles (7) of said speakers (3, 4, 5) are associated with respective hatches (12) for inspection, intervention and maintenance.
8. The system according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that it is connected wirelessly to other audio/video devices by radio link.
9. The system according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that it is connected to other audio/video devices by means of a single multicore cable.
10. The system according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the audio/ 12-V mains connections are of the type with a male-female coupling in order to allow the displacements needed to clean the home.
