Abstract

An OLED display comprises a substrate (22); one or more OLED light emitting elements including a first electrode formed on the substrate, one or more OLED light emissive layers (32) located over the first electrode (30), and a second electrode (34) located over the OLED light emissive layers; an encapsulating cover (12) located over the second electrode; and a thermally conductive substantially planar backplate (20) extending over an exterior surface of the encapsulating cover or of the substrate and adhered thereto with a thermally conductive adhesive (26), the backplate (20) having a thermal conductivity higher than that of the substrate (22) or cover (12), and the adhesive (26) having a thermal conductivity of greater than 0.2 W/mK, or equal to or greater than the thermal conductivity of the cover or substrate to which it is adhered.
