Abstract

The invention relates to a expiration date display device wherein the customers may easily perceive that the expiration date is passed by. According to the invention, the accident owing to the goods whose expiration data is passed by like as food poisoning or drugs side effect may be prevented. According to an aspect of the invention, there is provided an expiration date display device comprising: a controller (15) which is attached to the container (10) containing goods like as food medicine, the expiration date of the goods is stored therein, and outputs electric signal when the stored expiration date expires; a battery (20) which is attached to the container (10) and supplies the power to the controller (15); and a display means (30) which is electrically connected to the controller (15) and is exposed at the surface of the container (10), and displays the expiration symbol (25) notifying expiration of the expiration date if the electric signal is outputted from the controller (15).

Description EXPIRATION DATE DISPLAY DEVICE
[1] FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[2] The invention relates to an expiration date display de\ice, and more particularly to an expiration date display de\ice wherein the customers may easϊy perceive the expiration date of the goods like as food or medicine.
[3] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[4] In general, the goods like as food or medicine goes bad as time goes by, and the goods gone bad may cause a food poisoning or a side effect. Accordingly, the manufacturer has to mark the expiration date of the goods at the container like as a bottle, box, or paper bag and etc. When the goods are at the packing step of manufacture, the expiration date or a manufacture date is marked at the container by means of ink printing. When the manufacture date is printed at the container, the eatable term from the manufacture date is marked additionally.
[5] However, as the expiration date is generally marked in the letters of small size, the customers cannot easϊy read it. And, in case that the manufacture date is marked at the container, the customers may have difficulty in perceiving when the expiration date expires. And, if the expiration date is not marked clearly, the customers cannot perceive the expiration date at all. First of all, as described above, the customers cannot easϊy read the expiration date or cannot be perceived in clearly so that they often take the foods or the medicines whose expiration date is passed by. Accordingly, the accidents like as food pdsoiing or drugs side effect may be happened.
[6] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[7] The invention is created to solve the above described problems and the object of the invention is to provide an expiration date display devicewherein the customers may easϊy perceive that the expiration date is passed by so that the accident like as food poisoning or drugs side effect may be prevented.
[8] According to an aspect of the invention, there is provided an expiration date display device compriang:
[9] a controller 15 which is attached to the container 10 containing goods like as food or medicine, the expiration date of the goods is stored therein, and outputs electric signal when the stored expiration date expires;
[10] a battery 20 which is attached to the container 10 and supplies the power to the controller 15; and [11] a display means 30 which is electrically connected to the controller 15 and is exposed at the surface of the container 10, and displays the expiration symbol 25 notifying expiration of the expiration date if the electric signal is outputted from the controller 15.
[12] According to another aspect of the invention, there is provided the expiration date display device wherein the controller 15 is a RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) chip, and the data of the expiration date may be wirelessly transmitted to the RFTD chip at the manufacturing step of the container 10.
[13] According to another aspect of the invention, there is provided the expiration date display device wherein the expiration symbol 25 is formed at the display means 30 by applying electrically discoloring material.
[14] According to another aspect of the invention, there is provided the expiration date display device wherein the display means 30 is a thin film LCD, and the controller 15 includes a CPU 35, a ROM 40 in which the data to be displayed at the display means 30 have been stored, a timer 45 which counts the expiration date, and an I/O interface 50 which connects the CPU 35 to the display means 30.
[15] The invention has a number of important technical advantages. One advantage is providing an expiration date display device wheran the controller 15 attached to the container 10 of the goods may output the electric signal if the expiration date is expired, and then the display means 30 displays the expiration symbol 25. Accordingly, the customers may easϊy perceive the expiration of the expiration date so that they are not troubled under the accident owing to taking the foods or the medicines whose expiration date is passed by.

[21] A preferred embodiment of the invention wϊl be described in detaϊ bebw by referring to the accompanying drawings.
[22] Referring to the drawings, the expiration date display device of the invention comprisesa controller 15 which is attached to the container 10 containing goods like as food or medicine and outputs electric signal when the previously stored expiration date expires,a pad type battery 20 which supplies power to the controller 15, and a display means 30 which displays the expiration symbol 25 if the electric signal is outputted from the controller 15.
[23] Figure 1 and Figure 2 are the front views of the preferred embodiments of the invention, which show the case that the expiration date display device of the invention has been attached to the container 10. Referring to Figure 1 and Figure 2, the controller 15 and the battery 20 are attached to the outer surface of the container 10 in order that they may be hidden as shown in dotted line. And, the display means 30 is attached to the outer surface of the container 10 in order that it may be exposed outwardly. The controller 15 is to output the electric signal if the expiration date of the goods contained in the container 10 is expired. Preferably, RFID chip is used as the controller 15. In this case, the RFID chip is attached to the container 10 at the packing step of the goods, and the data of the expiration date of the goods may be transmitted from a wireless station to the RFID chip. Then, the expiration date of the goods may be stored in the RFID chip, and the RFID chip outputs the electric signal when the expiration date is expired. Like this, if the RFID chip is used as the controller 15, the data of the expiration date may be wirelessly inputted. Accordingly, the manufacturers of the goods may quickly perform the input process of the data of the expiration date, and may easϊy change the data by operating the wireless station simply. The battery 20 is a thin f m pad type battery, and it supplies power to the controller 15. Here, the battery 20 may be designed with the controller 15 in one body type as the RFID chip is designed as an active tag type.
[24] The display means 30 is connected to the controller 15, and it displays the expiration symbol 25 in which includes the figure and/or characters notifying expiration of the expiration date when the electric signal is outputted from the controller 15. Preferably, as show in Figure 2, in order to be easϊy perceived by the customers, the expiration symbol 25 is formed at the display means 30 by applying electrically discoloring material. For example, the electrically discoloring material is made by mixing a electrically discoloring rean and a conductive paint. In this case, if the electric signal is inputted to the display means 30 and it is transmitted to the conductive paint, said electrically discoloring rean is discolored reacting to the electric signal so that the expiration symbol 25 may be exposed visually. Here, Preferably, although the electric signal may be cut off from the controller 15 after the expiration symbol 25 is discolored, the expiration symbol 25 has the irreversibility that is not changed into the original cobr. According to the embodiment of the invention, the display means 30, as shown in Figure 1, displays the advertisement or the ingredient of the goods and so on before the expiration date is expired. And, the display means 30, as shown in Figure 2, displays the expiration symbol 25 when the expiration date is expired and the electric signal is outputted from the controller 15. Accordingly, even before the expiration date is expired, the region of the display means 30 is utilized for displaying the advertisement or the ingredient of the goods.
[25] Figure 3 is a bbck diagram of the varied embodiment of the invention. Referring to Figure 3, the display means 30 may be formed with a thin fϊm LCD. Here, the controller 15 includes a CPU 35 which controls the output of the display means 30, a ROM 40 in which the data to be displayed at the display means 30 have been stored, a timer 45 which counts the expiration date, and an I/O interface 50 which connects the CPU 35 to the display means 30.
[26] The ROM 40 stores the data to be displayed before the expiration date is as well as the data of the expiration symbol 25 to be displayed when the expiration date is expired. The timer 45 is the circuit connected to the CPU 35 or the program written into the ROM 40 and counts the expiration date. If the timer 45 do not count the expiration date yet, the CPU 35 read the data like as the advertisement or the ingredient of the goods from the ROM 40 and outputs them through the display means 30. And then, if the timer 45 has counted the expiration date, the CPU 35 read the data of the expiration symbol 25 from the ROM 40 and outputs it to the display means 30. Preferably, as shown in Figure 2, the expiration symbol 25 is displayed in the combination of the figure and the characters that the customers may easϊy perceive. And, it may be displayed irreversibly even after the expiration date is passed by.
[27] As described above, the expiration date display device of the invention is attached to the surface of the container 10 of the goods like as food or medicine. According to the invention, if the expiration date is expired, the controller 15 outputs the electric signal to the display means 30. And then, the display means 30 displays the expiration symbol 25 which notifies the expiration of the expiration date. The expiration symbol 25 may be formed at the display means 30 by applying electrically discobring material. Also, the expiration symbol 25 may be displayed through the LCD.
[28] According to the invention, the customers may easϊy perceive that the expiration date of the goods is expired although they do not pay carefiil attention. Accordingly, the invention may prevent the accident(like as food poisoning or drugs side effect) that the customers take the foods or the medicines whose expiration date is passed by.
[29] Although the discbsed embodiments have been described in detaϊ, it should be understood that various changes, substitutions and alterations can be made to the embodiments without departing from th r spirit and scope.

Claims
[ 1 ] 1. Anexpiration date display device compriang : a controller 15 which is attached to the container 10 containing goods like as food or medicine, the expiration date of the goods is stored therein, and outputs electric signal when the stored expiration date expires; a battery 20 which is attached to the container 10 and supplies the power to the controller 15; and a display means 30 which is electrically connected to the controller 15 and is exposed at the surface of the container 10, and displays the expiration symbol 25 notifying expiration of the expiration date if the electric signal is outputted from the controller 15.
2. The expiration date display device wherein the controller 15 is a RFTD(Radio Frequency IDentifϊcation) chip, and the data of the expiration date may be wirelessly transmitted to the RFTD chip at the manufacturing step of the container 10.
3. The expiration date display device wherein the expiration symbol 25 is formed at the display means 30 by applying electrically discobring material.
4. The expiration date display device wherein the display means 30 is a thin fϊm LCD, and the controller 15 includes a CPU 35, a ROM 40 in which the data to be displayed at the display means 30 have been stored, a timer 45 which counts the expiration date, and an I/O interface 50 which connects the CPU 35 to the display means 30.
