Abstract

A method for differentiating a diseased tissue from normal host tissue in subject by administering a bifunctional probe which comprises an optical imaging moiety and a magnetic resonance moiety. This method can provide delineation of pathology margins by pre-operative magnetic resonance imaging and/or by intra-operative optical imaging. The probes can therefore be used to differentiate diseased tissues from normal tissues during surgery.
