Description
Adaptereinheit für Feldbus-Kommunikation Adapter unit for fieldbus communication
The invention relates to an adapter unit for data communication of a field device of automation technology with a field bus, the field device having a diagnosis / service interface which provides field device-specific data.
The applicant manufactures and sells level measuring devices under the name "Liquiphant". These field devices come in two basic versions. They are available with a built-in interface for communicating with a fieldbus or without such an interface. As technology advances, the trend is moving away Profibus® and Fieldbus Foundation® should be mentioned here to communicate data, if possible. As this development of the fieldbus connection is still progressing, but since a large number of field devices are already in operation, it therefore makes sense to To make the connection to the fieldbus practically "connectable" so that there is no need to replace complete field devices.
It is therefore the object of the invention to propose a device with which non-fieldbus-compatible field devices are connected to a fieldbus.
Weiterhin handelt es sich bei den Daten um die Sensorsignale, also beispielsweise beim Liquiphanten um Amplitude und Frequenz derThe focus is particularly on field devices that have a diagnosis / service interface, from which data can be tapped directly on site, for example, to provide the service technician with more detailed information. Such a field device is, for example, the "Liquiphant M", which is manufactured and sold by the applicant. The field device-specific data is usually an identification of the field device by the so-called identification resistance, on the basis of which, for example, the field device type can be identified The data also includes the switching signal, which is obtained from the field device on the basis of the measured values Field device used, for example, for overflow protection, the switching signal indicates that the fill level has been exceeded. The switching signal is then used to stop a pump, for example, or to close an inlet. Furthermore, the data are the sensor signals, for example the liquiphant is the amplitude and frequency of the
Schwingung. Vibration. The fill level can be concluded on the basis of both variables - however the frequency is usually evaluated. The frequency depends e.g. depends on whether the vibratable unit - in the case of the liquiphant a tuning fork - vibrates freely in air, or whether it is covered by the medium to be monitored. The advantage if e.g. not only the switching state, but also frequency and amplitude are known, e.g. in that an approach on the tuning fork can be recognized. If the medium sticks to the oscillatable unit as an attachment, the oscillation frequency is reduced even if the tuning fork is not covered by the medium. This can be dangerous with the so-called no-load protection, if it must be prevented that a level is not fallen below. However, not only the vibration frequency is reduced, but also the vibration amplitude. If both sizes of the evaluation are available, it is not only possible to infer the level, but it can also be determined whether e.g. Approach exists. It is therefore very advantageous to have this information too. Which signals can be tapped at the diagnosis / service interface, however, depends on their design, which in turn depends on the design of the specific field device.
The object is achieved in that the adapter unit can be connected to the diagnosis / service interface and that the adapter unit transmits field device-specific data from the diagnosis / service interface via the fieldbus.
Eine Anwendung der Erfindung besteht gerade darin, dass die kommuniziertenThe idea is to enable communication between the diagnosis / service interface and the fieldbus via an adapter unit In other words, the component that is in the device itself for fieldbus-compatible field devices - for this purpose there is, for example, the Liquiphant PA from the applicant - to be relocated to the outside. This also results in a modular and pluggable structure that enables the field device to be upgraded. The field device-specific data is then transferred from the diagnosis / service interface via the fieldbus. This means that, for example, an evaluation unit has all the relevant variables that are only accessible via the diagnosis / service interface when queried directly. This increases the security of the entire system because more data is available. One application of the invention is that the communicated
Data for function monitoring of the field device can be used. However, the normal switching signals e.g. generated to control a system. The actual function of the field device is thus not restricted, rather more data is made accessible. The advantages of the invention are thus that the adapter unit does not only use existing ones, e.g. built-in field devices can be upgraded, but that complete process or production systems can also be upgraded. Furthermore, nothing changes in the actual function of the field device; it still provides the same and necessary basic signals, but the adapter unit provides access to further signals from which more information can be obtained. This also means that the adapter unit gives standard or alarm signals when it is supplied with energy, i.e. can deliver signals per se, but e.g. is not or is not correctly connected to a measuring device.
DasAn advantageous embodiment provides that the adapter unit can be connected to a power supply unit. This configuration has the advantage that the specifications of the field device are not influenced. The
The field device is not disturbed or influenced by the adapter unit, since both are in separate circuits. So the big advantage that the adapter unit can be used without the function of the field device being disturbed.
One embodiment includes that the adapter unit has at least one microcontroller. Via this microcontroller or microprocessor, field device-specific data of the field device are fetched, evaluated, and prepared for communication with the fieldbus and made accessible for communication. This includes e.g. et al also an analog-digital converter, which e.g. The measuring vibrations of the sensor are digitized. Such a converter is already present in most microcontrollers.
An advantageous embodiment provides that the microcontroller transmits the field device-specific data according to the HART® protocol via the fieldbus. This in connection with the own power supply for the adapter unit enables the field device not to be influenced by the adapter unit.
One embodiment includes that the field device is a level sensor. The applicant's Liquiphant M is to be mentioned here, which has a corresponding diagnosis / service interface. Such an interface is important so that data communication can be carried out without further modification to the field device and without further influencing the field device.
Es zeigt:The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the following drawing. It shows:
Fig. 1: a block diagram for the connection of the field device via the adapter unit with a fieldbus.
