Derzeit eingesetzte Rufsysteme basieren auf unidirektionalen Systemen, sind hauptsächlich drahtgebunden oder im Falle der funktechnisch orientierten Geräte auf alter Technik mit Anspruch auf umfangreiches zusätzliches Equipment aufgebaut. Die drahtgebunden Systeme erfordern zusätzlich zum eigentlichen Rufsystem eine kostenintensive, materielle wie auch personelle Installationsarbeit und sind zudem nur stationär einsetzbar. Die bekannten funkbasierenden Rufsysteme verwenden eine nicht standardisierte Funktechnik und sind somit auf jeweils speziell angepasstes Equipment angewiesen, das wiederum den Aufwand der Installation erhöht und den Einsatzbereich erheblich reduziert. Zudem arbeiten die Geräte nur im Simplexbetrieb.

Nachträgliche Erweiterungen des Systems sind ohne vorherige Einplanung möglich und erweitern auch hiermit die Flexibilität des Systems. Eine Fehlfunktion des Gerätes wird vorteilhaft weitestgehend durch eine autarke Funktion ausgeschlossen. Das Gerät ist so konzipiert, dass es seine Funktionstüchtigkeit ständig selbst überwacht und ggf. meldet. Zu dieser Überwachung gehört die Überprüfung des Batteriestatus ebenso wie die Feststellung einer korrekten Funkverbindung. Das speziell auf geringstem Stromverbrauch ausgelegte Hardwarelayout in Verbindung mit einer hocheffizienten Steuerungslogik sichert zudem ein Maximum an Betriebszeit bei reinem Batteriebetrieb.The option of connecting additional displays or printers also increases the range of applications enormously.
