Abstract

A hydrogen production system (300) incorporating use of electricity from renewable energy sources in hydrogen reforming plants. The system includes compressor (320) for hydrogen compression for high-pressure storage (330) electrical heating supply for the endothermic reforming reaction. The compressed hydrogen, produced using renewable energy sources, provides means of stored mechanical energy. Another embodiment combines conventional chemical reforming process with electrolysis (350) to provide leveled hydrogen generation.
