Abstract

Disclosed is an SM (short message) transmitter and receiver with a message combination function using an external standby time. An SM is generated, it is split according to its size, a standby time for standing by for receipt of the split SMs is generated, and the split messages are transmitted to terminals through an SM channel. The terminal receives the split messages during the receipt standby time, stores them in a temporary memory, and when all the split SMs are received, the terminal combines them into a single message and displays the complete message. Therefore, message discard rates decrease and message receiving rates increase.
