Beschreibungdescription
Anbindung eines Unified Messaging Systemes an eine VermittlungsstelleConnection of a unified messaging system to a switching center
Der Anmeldungsgegenstand betrifft ein System zur Steuerung eines Unified Massaging Systems. The subject of the application relates to a system for controlling a unified massaging system.
Unified Messaging Systems (UMS) unite the different message types that are transported on different communication channels in a common system with the aim of avoiding media breaks. A message can reach the user as a voice, text or picture message; the message is transmitted, for example, by telephone, PC, fax or pager.
Most UM systems are now offered by specialized companies as a stand-alone solution. In other words, for message transmission via telephone, these systems must also support functions that are typically implemented in switching centers in the public network. Corresponding resources are required for this in the UM systems, which do not serve the original purpose of the UM systems, namely the administration of all message formats. These resources tie up the storage and runtime capacity of the UM systems unnecessarily.
As mentioned above, unified messaging systems are usually implemented as independent (stand-alone) solutions. The UM systems support functions for message management such as automatic forwarding, notification as well as functions for message conversion such as 'fax to text' or 'text to speech'. In addition, billing technical and switching functions are provided.
In the case of a voice-related message from or to a telephone, the functions for establishing a voice connection must be implemented in the Unified Messaging system itself. The UM system uss take over the control for the call setup.
The object of the application is based on the problem of specifying a method which enables the connection of unified messaging systems to a switching system while simultaneously taking on switching technology functions by the switching system.
The problem is solved by an object with the features of claim 1.
The subject of the registration involves a functional split between a unified messaging system and a switching system. The aim of this split is to relieve the UMS of traditional switching tasks that are not part of the innate functions of a unified messaging system. In addition, the operator of a public network (e.g. the telecommunications company) is offered an additional service from a single source through the combination of switching system and UM system.
The functional split according to the application contains an application module on a commercial platform that fulfills the following functions:
- Bereitstellung einer Dienstelogik zum Aufbau einer Sprach- Verbindung zwischen 2 Anschlüssen, wobei einer der Anschlüsse den Besitzer oder den Nutzer einer Mailbox in einem UM-System darstellt;
- Bereitstellung eines zugehörigen applikationsspezifischen- Provision of a service logic for establishing a voice connection between two connections, one of the connections representing the owner or the user of a mailbox in a UM system; - Provision of an associated application-specific
APIs (Application Programming Interface) zur Ansteuerung der o.g. Dienstelogik durch ein UMS.APIs (Application Programming Interface) to control the above Service logic through an EMS.
The API is a proprietary interface and is optimized for the specific requirements of a messaging application.
Hieraus ergeben sich für den Betreiber des UMS einige Vorteile: - mit der Realisierung der Dienstelogik außerhalb des UM-This results in several advantages for the operator of the UMS: - with the implementation of the service logic outside the UM-
Systemes no knowledge of the processes in the underlying network is required; this is the responsibility of the supplier of the public switching system, which is its core competence; - The definition of a simple API - limited to the specifics of the application module - allows a reduction of the message exchange between the UM system and the public exchange to the necessary; From a dynamic point of view, this relieves the UM system considerably.
Advantageous further developments of the subject of the application are specified in the subclaims.
Dabei zeigen: Fig 1 eine erfindungsgemäße, prinzipielle Funktionsaufteilung zwischen der Vermittlungsstelle mit integrierter kommerzieller Plattform sowie den externen Applikations- Servern undThe subject of the application is explained in more detail below as an exemplary embodiment to the extent necessary for understanding with reference to figures. 1 shows a basic division of functions according to the invention between the switching center with an integrated commercial platform and the external application servers and
Fig 2 eine herkömmliche Anordnung.Fig. 2 shows a conventional arrangement.
In the figures, the same designations denote the same elements. The subject of the application is based on an architecture in which a conventional switching center is supplemented with an additional platform based on commercial hardware. Special modules (application blocks) are implemented on the platform, whose functions can be controlled externally via open APIs.
Based on this architecture, a new application module is implemented for the connection of a UMS, which provides the functions of this module via an application-specific API. The application module 'esaging' provides functions for establishing a voice connection between the owner of a mailbox on the UM system and a user of this mailbox.
Figur 2 zeigt eine herkömmliche Anordnung mit einem Ablauf ohne Einbindung des klassischen Vermittlungssystems.FIG. 2 shows a conventional arrangement with a sequence without integration of the classic switching system.
Das Verfahren soll am Leistungsmerkmal (Feature) 'Rückruf perFigure 1 shows the basic division of functions between the switching center with an integrated commercial platform that offers open APIs (back-end server), and the external application servers that use these APIs (front-end server). A switching system VS, which is connected via an internal interface IIF (for: Internal Interface) to a commercial platform CP (for: Commercial Platform), has the functions of establishing a connection VA, charging VG, signaling protocols SP and cooperation functions IW (for: interworking ) on. A Unified Messaging System USM can be connected to the platform in the course of a connection based on the Internet protocol IP, the connection being made via an Application Protocol Interface API via CORBA (for: Common Object Request Broker Architecture). The procedure should be based on the feature 'Callback by
Click 'are explained. The subscriber TEA with a mailbox in the UM system dialed the UMS dial-in number (1). The Ver ¬ connection setup for UMS via the switching system to which the commercial platform is connected and offers an open API. The application block Am registers the incoming call and forwards it to the UMS system (2). This involvement of the switching system is not visible to the UMS subscriber TEA. The UMS participant TEA finds a message in his mailbox and wants to call the sender (participant TEB) back by phone. The implementation of this feature in the UMS is within the scope of professional skill.
Der Applikationsbaustein löst die Sprachverbindung zwischen Vermittlungssystem und UMS, baut stattdessen die Verbindung zum Absender der Mailbox- Nachricht auf und verbindet anschließend UMS-Mailbox-Besitzer und Absender (4) .To implement the 'Callback per click' feature, the UM system calls the appropriate API method, which is provided by the application module on the commercial platform (3). This method contains all the information required to establish a connection between the mailbox owner and the message sender. The connection establishment is now controlled by the application module, which forwards the request to the associated switching system via the internal interface. The entire connection (setup including monitoring, conversation phase and removal) is controlled / controlled by the application module completely separately from the UM system. The application module clears the voice connection between the switching system and the UMS, instead establishes the connection to the sender of the mailbox message and then connects the UMS mailbox owner and sender (4).
The UM system is informed of the success or failure of the connection establishment with an appropriate API method after constant connection clearing informed by the application module. This method also includes other data that the UMS needs, for example, for charging, traffic measurement or statistical aspects. Control passes again from the application module to the unified messaging system.
