Description

Protective Film on the Basis of a Modified Polymeric Compound
Technical Field
The scope of this invention is a preparation of a modified polymer/alcohol compound with enhanced adhesion to human skin and good solubility in the aqueous media. By evaporating of the volatile ingredients after the application to the skin, a compact transparent protective film with good mechanical properties and with an excellent resistance against organic solvents and hydrophobic agents developes.
(Background Art
The fluid protectives known so far are founded on the basis of natural polymeric substances as e.g. gelatine solution, starch etc.
The efficiency of such protectives was unsatisfactory, which was the cause of their rapid production decrease and usage in this application area. Slow drying time, unacceptable resistance characterisctics, insufficient mechanical properties and tendency to a fast wash-off were their disadvantages. The protective film tendency to a fast wash-off in water was inabling the dirt that was being removed to get into contact with human tissue, which in fact made the protective film lose its initial efficiency.
Due to the aforesaid disadvantages of the natural protectives for application in the form of "fluid gloves", new protectives on the basis of higher fatty accids and their derivates (fat protective creams), which are absorbed by skin, were started to be devoleped in the course of time. These function rather as a protective cream than as an agent making a barrier for the skin irritating organic substances. They are, in their chemical principal, different from the proposed agent on the basis of a alcoholic polyvinilalcohol solution.
Subject Matter of the Invention
The invention pertains to a polymer/alcohol compound with enhanced adhesion to human skin and good solubility in the aqueous media.
The subject matter of the proposed solution is a modified compound on the basis of alcoholic polyvinilalcohol solution of the following proportion:
1 to 50 weight perc. of polyvinilalcohol, 5 to 70 weight perc. of alcohol C\ to
Cio, 2 to 40 weight perc. of magnesium chloride, 0.1 weight perc. of acticide preservant and distilled water to 100 weight perc.
The main advantage of the submitted compound is the ability of the protective film to be excellently distributed on the skin in a form of a viscous fluid with good adhesiveness and its optimal drying time (instant fixaton on the skin without flowing down). After evaporation of volatile ingredients, a compact transparent protective film, with excellent mechanical properties (flexibility, strenght, adhesion to substratum) and resistance characteristics (resistance against organic substances), appears on the skin.
These properties are significantly influenced by the content of additives in the polymeric system which ensure the optimal softening of the system as well as its netting and optimal adhesive properties (evennes of adhesion to the groundwork and surface adhesive power).
The ready protective film has also a good steam permeability, hands do not sweat under it and there is no subsequent pruritus occurence on the skin. Not the rleast important property of the proposed system is the excelent washability which ensures good separation of dirt, without irritating the skin.
Disclosure of the Invention
To prepare the protective film for hands which would resist organic solvents, a polymer/alcohol compound acoording to the invention was designed. The compound contained 10 weight perc. of polyvinilalcohol, 44 weight perc. of alcohol Ci to Cio series, 9 weight perc. of magnesium chloride, 0.1 weight perc. of preservative - acticide and the compound was replenished with distilled water to 100 weight perc.
After homogenization of the compound, transparent, slightly opalescent, higher viscous fluid ensues.
The compound is applied on the skin in a thin coating which formes, by evaporation of the volatile components, a compact transparent film with good mechanical properties (strenght, flexibility etc.).
The dirt, which is caught on the surface of the film, and which contains organic solvents, can be easily removed with a corresponding diluent, whereas it has no influence on the quality of the protective film.
The slowed solubility enables to rinse out the dirt from the skin when washing. For the final washing, only remnants of the protective film, which is entirely resolved in water, remain on the surface. The dermatological properties of the film are very good.
The system mentioned can be further utilized in a field of wall protecting against sgraffiti and other various spray applications. In that case, it is advisable to apply one lower unsoluble coating with excellent mechanical properties and, subsequently, second upper coating with modified solubility which is, together with the spraying, water (or detergent) removable. Commercial utilization
The proposed solution can be utilized in the chemical industry when producing dermatological and drug agents.
The mentioned formula can be further utilized in civil engineering to protect the surface of construction objects.
