Description

Procédé de préconditionnement 'd'outils à main et produit obtenu .Preconditioning process for hand tools and product obtained.
The invention relates to a method for preconditioning hand metal tools comprising a handle made of molded thermoplastic material.
Traditional tools such as, for example, the various categories of screwdrivers, files, rasps and wood chisels, consist of a metal element comprising a first active part of the elongated tool, parallel to a main axis, capable of being part of a cylindrical surface whose generatrices are parallel to said main axis and a second connecting part with a maneuvering handle, elongated along said main axis, having anchoring elements, the maneuvering handle also being substantially cylindrical around the same main axis. This operating handle is currently produced by overmolding of at least one thermoplastic material around the second connecting part. When there are several materials used, a first rigid thermoplastic material ensures the mechanical strength of the handle around the second connecting part and at least one second flexible or rigid thermoplastic material, injected over the first rigid thermoplastic material, ensures the wrapping of the handle to make it more pleasant to the touch and / or more aesthetic by playing with color and / or shape.
Ce conteneur sert généralement de support aux informations indispensables à la commercialisation notamment le code à barres .The marketing of these tools in mass distribution requires that they be placed in a container of sufficient size and difficult to open without appropriate tools to make it more difficult to conceal them at the level of the boxes; these containers are, for example, made up of a semi-rigid support, preferably made of plastic, onto which is welded a semi-rigid thermoformed shell enclosing the tool in a cavity. This container is generally used to support information essential for marketing, in particular the barcode.
Packaging tools in marketing containers requires rework and tools specific to this activity; "The technique used being very different from that of manufacturing thermoplastic handles, it is generally an activity subcontracted to specialized companies generating an additional cost which can be of the same order of magnitude as the cost of manufacturing the metal tool hand sold.
The object of the process consists in proposing a method of packaging metallic hand tools with an overmolded handle that does not require rework in order to reduce production costs.

The invention is a method for obtaining a presentation assembly 6 (fig.l) consisting of at least one hand tool 1, integral with a display tray 2, by molding an operating handle 5 with a thermoplastic material; the display tray comprising in particular equipment necessary for its presentation on the shelves of the main distribution circuits, the hand tool 1 being capable of being separated from the display tray 2 by cutting out the thermoplastic material constituting the handle 5. Thus the display tray 2 includes at least one eyelet 3 of suitable shape for threading into at least one single or double rod hung on the vertical face of a distribution store console and at least one flat surface 4 capable of receiving, for example, at least one self-adhesive label comprising a bar code; the display tray 2 is connected to the operating handle 5, for example, by two attachment points 7 located in the joint plane of the operating handle 5. The manufacture of the presentation assembly 6 consisting of at least one handle operating 5 molded from a hand tool 1 and a display tray 2 is, in a preferred version of the invention, made in or one of the thermoplastic materials used for overmolding the operating handle 5; the imprint of the display tray 8 (fig.2) has the same joint plane 9 as the imprint of the operating handle 10 overmolded or the overmolding imprint of one of the thermoplastic materials constituting the operating handle 10 overmolded; these two imprints 8 and 10 communicate at the joint plane 9 by at least one channel 11 and a small section opening 12: it is obvious that there can be several operating sleeves 5 molded from hand tools 1 secured the same display tray 2 so as to present, for example, on the same support a range of complementary hand tools with each other. The metal part of each hand tool, constituting a first insert 13, is introduced into the imprint of the corresponding operating handle 10 either manually or by means of a robot or an automaton; in the case of automatic fitting of the first insert (s) 13, it is also advantageous to place the labels in the imprint of the display tray 8 where they are held in place, for example, by means of sintered metal pellets 14, integrated into the imprint and connected to a suction device; in the case of manual installation of the first insert (s) 13, the labels can be placed in masked time by the person responsible for installing the first insert 13 in the imprints. If the overmolded operating handle 5 comprises several thermoplastic materials, the first insert is, for example, placed in a first cavity for a first overmolding, with a first thermoplastic material, which allows the first insert to be anchored in the overmolded operating handle; the assembly consisting of the first insert and the first overmolding is placed in a second cavity to make the second overmolding with, for example, a second thermoplastic material; the display tray is manufactured during one of the overmolding operations with that of the two thermoplastic materials which is most suitable for making the display tray.
In a second version of the invention, the display tray 2 (fig.l) is, for example, injection molded in a thermoplastic material different from that used for overmolding the operating handle 5; when the overmolded operating handle 5 is made of a single thermoplastic material overmolded in one operation, the display plate 2 constitutes a second insert 15 (FIGS. 3 and 4) which is placed in an appropriate housing of the overmold imprint jointly with the installation of the first insert (s) 16; the second insert 15 comprises hooking means which project into cavities 18 of the joint plane 19 connected to the overmolding imprint of the operating handle 20 by an opening 21 of small section; these attachment means 17 are, for example, constituted by the first protuberances 17 located on the part of the second insert 15, projecting into the cavities 18, in excess thickness on either side of the display tray; during the overmolding of the first inse.rt the thermoplastic material fills the overmolding imprint of the operating handle 20 then enters through the opening 21 of small section in the cavities 18 to form second protuberances 22 which are overmolded on the first protuberances 17 and thus secure the second insert 15 constituting the overmolded display tray with the overmolded operating handle 23. When the overmolded operating handle 23 is made of several materials, the second insert can be secured to the overmolded operating handle in the same manner as that described above, either during the first overmolding or during the second overmolding depending on the material. more appropriate. The display tray can be made of another material such as cardboard or plastic sheet cut while remaining within the scope of the invention.
In a variant of the second version of the invention, when the overmolded operating handle (fig.l) consists of a single thermoplastic material overmolded in one operation, the display plate 2 constitutes a third insert 29 (fig.6) which is placed in the overmolding imprint 30 together with the fitting of the first insert (s) 31; the third insert 29 comprises hooking means 32 which project into the overmolding imprint 30 of the operating handle by an opening of small section 33; these attachment means 32 are, for example, made up of third protuberances 34 (fig. 7) located on the part of the third insert 29, projecting into the overmolding imprint 30, in excess thickness on either side of the display tray ; during the overmolding of the first insert 31, the thermoplastic material fills the overmolding imprint 30 of the operating handle 35 which is overmolded on the third protuberances 34 and thus secure the third insert 29 overmolded in the operating handle 35.
When the overmolded operating handle is made of several materials, the third insert can be secured to the overmolded operating handle in the same manner as that described above, either during the first overmolding or during the second overmolding depending on the material most appropriate. The display tray can be made of another material such as cardboard or cut plastic plate while remaining within the scope of the invention. The method is applied in the same way in the case where the overmolded operating handle is in two separate parts, such as, for example, the two branches of a multi-grip pliers.
In an improvement of the method, the display tray 2 (fig.l) comprises means for fixing the latter on a vertical wall such as, for example, holes 24, capable of receiving fixing screws as well as support means adapted to hand tools for storing it when it has been detached from the display tray, for example a ring 25, integral with the tray display 2, placed horizontally and of a section such that the rod 26 constituting the first active part of the screwdriver can pass through it but not the operating handle 5 which abuts on it; for other tools, the ring is replaced by a hook 27 (fig.l and 5) on which a retainer 28 made in the operating handle 5 is hooked.
