Abstract

A system for monitoring the performance of a target system, where the target . system includes at least one resource to be tested, and that resource performs at least one resource function to be tested. The system includes a monitoring program that sends a resource function test request in one protocol, such as HTTP. A target system interface receives the resource function test request and calls a resource function test program, which sends a resource function test requt:st to the target system in a second protocol that is understood by the target system. The target system interface receives a resource function test response via the resource function test program, and sends the response to the monitoring program. The monitoring program then determines whether the actual response from the resource of the target system is a predefined expected response. If so, the testing cycle continues. If not, notifications are sent to technical support personnel via a notification interface. Upon completion of a testing cycle a web page publisher publishes diagram of the status of the target system.
