Abstract

Thermal sensor (100) is adjacent a separate heating element (110). The thermal sensor (100) and the heating element (110) are embedded in a substrate (104) over which fluid may flow. The thermal sensor (100) is in electrical communication with a signal conditioning element (106) which may be embedded in the substrate (102) or may be remotely located. The signal conditioning element (106) receives the signal from the thermal sensor (100) and modifies it by amplifying and filtering to reduce noise. The power supply and control element (112) provide a controlled source of voltage and current to the heating element (110).
