ILLUSTRATIVE EMBODIMENTS
Figure 1 shows a lottery ticket 1 according to the invention. The lottery ticket consists preferably of a printed sheet of paper but can, where applicable, be in electronic format and intended for games via a computer- based network. The lottery ticket 1 has three matrices 2 each of which corresponds to a bingo game field with 5x5 positions. In the matrices 2 there is a symbol placed in each position in the matrix. The symbols are selected at random from a defined set of symbols. In the example shown, the symbols consist of the numbers 1 - 75, which are arranged in a known manner so that the numbers 1 - 15 are found in the first column, the numbers 16 - 30 are found in the second column, the numbers 31 - 45 are found in the third column, the numbers 46 - 60 are found in the fourth column, and the numbers 61 - 75 are found in the fifth column. The game can of course also be designed with more or fewer columns, more or fewer matrices and/or other symbols. In a common form of the game, a position in the matrix is also marked in advance, usually the one in the middle.
Figure 2 shows a screen image for registering a number of symbols representing a subset in a defined set of symbols. Registration can be done by the player inputting symbols via a keyboard allocated to a sending unit. According to one embodiment, the sending unit can be a telephone, where figures corresponding to the symbols are input. According to an alternative embodiment where the sending unit is part of a computer-based network, registration can be done via a screen image in which the symbols are registered by means of the player clicking on these in a matrix 3 of symbols located on the screen image. There is also a registration field for registering an identification code which the player can use when collecting a win. According to one embodiment, this identification number is a number which is unique for each generated lottery ticket and which is found printed on the lottery ticket. According to an alternative embodiment, this number can be generated automatically each time a registration takes place, the player being able to note the number. According to a further alternative embodiment, the player himself can register the identification number. In the example shown, there is a field 4 for registering an identification code.
Figure 3 shows the same lottery ticket in which numbers in the bingo game fields that correspond to numbers in the called symbol field have been marked. A winning lottery ticket is generally identified by a defined pattern being generated when symbols from said called symbol field are marked on said matrix. The defined pattern generally consists of a horizontal or vertical row, a diagonal line or a cross, but other patterns can of course be used to identify a winning lottery ticket.
Figure 3 shows a gaming arrangement 10 comprising a device 1 1 for generating a set of lottery tickets. The device for generating a set of lottery tickets 11 comprises a first memory area 12 in which a set of symbols 17 is stored. In one embodiment of the invention, said set of symbols consists of the numbers 1 - 75, but it can be made up of any desired set of symbols. The device for generating a set of lottery tickets 11 moreover comprises a random symbol generator 13 which randomly selects symbols from said first memory area 12 and generates a set of matrices 13 which are stored in a second memory area 14. The device 1 1 also comprises a called symbol field 15 which is stored in a fourth memory area 16, said called symbol field 15 being common to said set of lottery tickets 11 and comprising a subset of said set of symbols 17. The gaming arrangement further comprises an application tool 18 which is arranged to apply at least one bingo game field 2 consisting of one of said matrices 13 onto each lottery ticket. The gaming arrangement also comprises a third memory area 19 which is intended to store a large number of second subsets 20 of said set of symbols 17 together with an identification code 21 (Fig. 2) for each second subset 20. A transmission unit 22 is arranged in the gaming arrangement in order to transmit the called symbol field 15 from the transmission unit 22 to a receiving/sending unit 23 and to receive second subsets 20 from the receiving/sending unit 23 to the transmission unit 22. The received second subsets 20 are stored in the third memory area 19 together with an identification code 21 which is unique for each second subset 20. In a comparator 24, the stored second subsets 20 are compared with the called symbol field 15, after which the identification codes 21 for the winning second subsets can, in one embodiment of the invention, be communicated via the transmission unit 22. A winning second subset is identified by means of a defined number of symbols from said called symbol field being found in said second subset.
The arrangement described above is intended to make possible a game comprising a set of lottery tickets 1 1 , each comprising at least one bingo game field 2 consisting of a matrix with symbols selected from a defined set of symbols 17 and a called symbol field 15 which is common to said set of lottery tickets 11 and comprises a subset of said set of symbols. In the game, a winning lottery ticket is identified by means of a defined pattern being generated when symbols from a called symbol field are marked on said matrix. According to one embodiment of the invention, the defined pattern consists of a normal bingo pattern with a winning horizontal or vertical row, a diagonal line or a cross. According to a particular embodiment of the invention, different winning rows can be provided with different win plans, by which means the winning rows are specially marked with a special pattern or colour differing from the other parts of the matrix. The game moreover comprises a memory area 19 which is intended to store a large number of second subsets 20 of said set of symbols 17 together with an identification code 21. A winning second subset is identified by the second subsets 20 being compared with the called symbol field 15, a winning second subset being identified by means of a defined number of symbols from said called symbol field being found on a winning second subset.
Figure 4 shows schematically a method for a lottery game with lottery tickets 11 of the type comprising at least one bingo game field 2 consisting of a matrix with symbols selected from a defined set of symbols 17 where, according to one embodiment of the invention, a symbol is placed on each position in the matrix.
The method comprises the following method steps:
In a first method step 30, a called symbol field 15 comprising a subset of said set of symbols is transmitted via a transmission unit 22 to a receiving unit 23. ln a second method step 40, transmission of second subsets of said set of symbols from a sending unit 23 to a receiving unit 22 by means of a player choosing which symbols and how many symbols are to be included in the comparison. According to one embodiment of the invention, the player chooses between 1 and 10 symbols, after which the win plan for the player is determined according to the number of numbers selected. If, for example, 10 numbers are chosen, the win plan is normally configured so that a win is obtained for 0, 8, 9 and 10 correctly selected symbols.
In a third method step 50, said second subsets are stored together with an identification code in a memory.
In a fourth method step 60, a winning lottery ticket is identified by the player by means of a defined pattern being generated^ when symbols from said called symbol field are marked on said matrix.
In a fifth method step 70, a winning second subset is identified by means of a defined number of symbols from said called symbol field being found on the winning second subset upon application of said called symbol field to said second subsets.
The invention is not limited to the embodiments described above, but can be varied freely within the scope of the attached patent claims.
