Abstract

A system and method for suturing is provided, wherein a plurality of separate anchor members (10) each having an anchoring end (12) and a non-anchoring end (24), are adapted to individually and sequentially enter pierced tissue (14) on both sides of an incision. The anchor members have a plurality of contact with the suture-retaining forms (26) whereby tautening of the suture filament (38) engaging a plurality of said anchor members serves to approximate tissue on both sides of an incision irrespective of the spacing between respective anchor members.
