Abstract

A system facilitating communication over a distributed electronic network (2101) is provided. A dynamic data system (2100) comprises a distributed network (2101), data services, and an executive service and users connected to the network (2101). A user having a unique identifier is assigned to a data service used to store dynamic information. Dynamic information, such as a user's connection address, is retrieved from the distributed data system to provide point-to-point communication. A mapping scheme for remote data services allows a particular service assigned to a user to be found with a unique identifier. In certain embodiments, a relatively centralized static data repository (2115) may be maintained separately from a dynamic data portion of the system. In other embodiments, static data is not centralized in a repository. Reliability of a distributed data system is furthered by detecting faults in a service, and bringing a backup service online as a replacement.
