Abstract

An optical switch using collimated arrays with non-collinear beams is disclosed. In one embodiment, the switch includes three or more bi-directional optical input and output ports, three or more moveable mirrors to optically connect the input and output ports, three or more collimating lenses that produce approximately collimated beams, so that the distance between two or more beams decreases as the beams propagate from the collimating lenses to the moveable mirrors.
