Abstract

The invention relates to a method for the transmission of information via a field bus, especially a profibus, in automation devices, especially in programmable control systems, central processing units of programmable control systems and/or decentralized peripherals. The communication relations between the automation devices that are linked with the field bus and that are thereby communicatively interlinked (referred to in the following as communication participants) can be configured by the user. More than one communication participant, referred to in the following as the masters, is an active token-holding station. Only for one master, referred to in the following as the synchronicity master, a synchronicity bus cycle time is defined. The synchronicity master carries out all the communication processes within the scope of the communication relations allocated to it within a bus cycle time that is shorter than the synchronicity bus cycle time. The time remaining after termination of the bus cycle time and before termination of the synchronicity bus cycle time is available for special communication tasks, especially for the acyclic communication. When the synchronicity bus cycle time is terminated, the next bus cycle is initiated.
