Abstract

Viewers may be solicited to view commercials by electronic images inserted in other television programming whereby viewers who interact with the inserted image and view the solicited commercial will be rewarded with credits and/or prizes. A viewer may immediately spend rewarded credits, or save credits in an electronic account for later use. Rewarded credits may be used to purchase a variety of goods and services (e.g. television programming, T-shirts). The primary source of income for the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System will be from advertisers who use the system in order to advertise and market their products and/or services.

Description

TELEVISION COMMERCIAL FREQUENT VIEWER REWARDS SYSTEM
Description The present invention is a method and system for conducting a form of commerce whereby advanced television viewers are rewarded with credits and/or prizes for viewing television commercials (the "Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System"). Viewers receive additional credits by electronically purchasing item's displayed in the said commercial. Viewers may be solicited to view commercials by electronic images inserted in other television programming whereby viewers who interact with the inserted image and view the solicited commercial will be rewarded with credits and/or prizes. A viewer may immediately spend rewarded credits, or save credits in an electronic account for later use. Rewarded credits may be used to purchase a variety of goods and service's (e.g. television programming, T-Shirts). The primary source of income for the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System will be from advertisers who use the system in order to advertise and market their products and/or services.

Claims

WHAT IS CLAIMED IS:
1. A method and system wherein the present invention is a form of commerce for the purpose of rewarding viewers with credit's and/or prizes for viewing television commercials (the "Television Commer- cial Frequent Viewer Rewards System") and wherein the said television commercial is displayed on an advanced television apparatus (i.e. interactive multimedia viewer platform) (the "Advanced Television"), and further wherein the said rewarded credits can be utilized by a viewer in order to acquire and purchase a variety of goods and/or services, which goods and/or services are made available for acquisition and purchase by the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System service provider and/or participating product and/or service advertiser(s).
2. A method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System is intended to promote, encourage and assist with the advertising and marketing of goods and/or services, and wherein the said goods and/or services are advertised in an interactive television commercial and the said interactive television commercial video session ("Interactive
Television Commercial Video Session") is displayed on an Advanced Television, and further wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System comprises:
(a) a means of creating , generating and/or utilizing an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session;
(b) a means of communicating an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session to a remote location (e.g. television channel and/or television network);
(c) a means of displaying an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session at a remote location, and wherein the remote location is capable of utilizing an Advanced Television apparatus;
(d) a means by which an Advanced Television apparatus may simultaneously communicate with a plurality of remote location(s);
(e) a means of processing a viewer's Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System transaction;
(f) a means of generating, storing and maintaining a system database; (g) a means of generating, storing and maintaining a frequent viewer database; (h) a means of generating and maintaining a viewer account database; (i) a means of conducting a commercial viewing transaction; (j) a means of soliciting viewers of an Interactive Television
Commercial Video Session(s) whereby the said method of solicitation includes a process by which a video image object(s) may /will be inserted within the video display image of other television broadcast programs (the "Television Program"), whereby the inserted video image object(s) (the
"Secondary Solicitation Image") will solicit viewers to participate in an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session by offering credits and/or prizes in exchange and in reward for viewers viewing the said television commercial and/or completing other actions and undertakings; and
(k) a means of providing a viewer with access to an electronic product warehouse database in which a viewer may view, acquire and purchase product's and/or services in exchange for rewarded credits and/or other payment means.
3. A method in accordance with claim 2, wherein an interactive television commercial video session (the "Interactive Television Commercial Video Session") is for display on an Advanced Television channel and/or network, and wherein the Interactive Television Commercial Video Session will be created, generated, and/or utilized in conjunction with and for the purpose of applying the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System to the said Interactive Television Commercial Video Session, and further wherein the Interactive Television Commercial Video Session comprises:
(a) a video broadcast data session, (the "Television Program") which said data session is formatted for display on an Advanced Television, and wherein the said data session is generated and created for the purpose of advertising and/or marketing a specific product(s) and/or service(s); and
(b) parameters, criteria and guidelines, wherein the parameters, criteria and guidelines may /will be utilized when determining whether a viewer of an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session is eligible and entitled to be rewarded credits and/or prizes, and wherein the method for determining whether the said viewer is eligible and entitled to be rewarded credits and/or prizes comprises a method of comparing a viewer(s) actions against the pre-established parameters, criteria and guidelines used for determining whether credits and/or prizes will be rewarded to a viewer (the "Reward
Criteria").
4. A method in accordance with claim 3, wherein an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session may /will further comprise a method of generating data, which data represents a video image object(s), wherein the said video image object(s) data will/may be contained and/or encoded within a video broadcast data session, and further wherein when the said Interactive Television Commercial Video Session is displayed on an Advanced Television a said encoded video image object may/will be viewer selectable and further processable via a world wide network arrangement (e.g.:
Internet), and wherein the process of identifying a video image object and making a user selectable and further processable via a world wide network may /will comprise:
(a) a means of identifying a specific video image object contained within a video broadcast data session, wherein the said video image object may be electronically and/or optically or by some other means inserted and/or otherwise introduced into a video broadcast data session, and further wherein the said video image object is identified and designated to be made user selectable and further processable via a world wide network arrangement;
(b) a means of designating a plurality of video image object contained within a video broadcast data session to be user selectable objects; (c) a means of physically or logically dividing the said video broadcast data session into a succession of video frames images and assigning to each of the said video frame image a unique video frame image identification code;
(d) a means of assigning to each user selectable object contained within a video broadcast data session, the said object's X &
Y coordinates within the video frame image, which said coordinates will allow a video image object to become user selectable and further processable when displayed on an Advanced Television apparatus; (e) a means of assigning object caption data (the "Object Caption
Data") to each user selectable object contained within a video broadcast data session, and wherein a user selectable object's Object Caption Data may /will comprise: i) a product identification code; ii) product description data; iii) product price data; iv) product manufacturer data; v) an network Hyperlink; and vi) any other information and/or data required in order to allow the system to operate at it's fullest and greatest potential.
(f) a means by which a viewer/user of Advanced Television apparatus is delivered via the said network Hyperlink to a location on the world wide network arrangement (e.g. Internet) whereby the viewer is delivered to the said location at which the user selectable object is further processable by viewer (e.g.: purchase jewelry); and
(g) a means of creating and storing information and/or data about and relating to a user selectable object wherein the said information and or data will comprise a user selectable objects video object information which comprises a user selectable object's X and Y coordinates; product caption data; a network Hyperlink, and wherein the said Video Object Information may be stored on the same medium as the video broadcast data session or on a different medium and at a different location.
5. A method in accordance with claim 3, wherein the Interactive
Television Commercial Video Session may communicate with a remote location, and wherein the said method of communicating by an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session to a remote location may /will comprise a television broadcast channel and/or network and/or any other means that allows and enables the Interactive Television Commercial Video Session to communicate with a remote location, and the method of communication in a format that is processable by an Advanced Television apparatus.
6. A method and apparatus in accordance with claim 2, wherein there is a method of processing and displaying the Interactive Television Commercial Video Session at a remote location, and wherein the method of displaying and processing the Interactive Television Commercial Video Session may be an Advanced Television (i.e. advanced interactive multimedia viewer platform), and further wherein the said Advanced Television may /will comprise:
(a) a processor integrated with an Advanced Television;
(b) a means of receiving, decoding and processing an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session;
(c) a communication module capable of communication with a world wide network arrangement;
(d) a storage mechanism integrated with the Advanced Television; (e) a means of receiving, processing and interpreting direct user input;
(f) a video display facility integrated with the Advanced Television;
(g) a means of receiving , processing and displaying an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session simultaneously, and along with displaying and processing a video broadcast data session within a secondary display window;
(h) a means of pausing a video broadcast data session (the
"Television Program"); displaying a Commercial program; restarting the video broadcast data session at the same video frame image at which the Television Program was initially interrupted; (i) a means of pausing the video display image upon receiving a viewer requested interrupt command; (j ) a means of retrieving and processing an Interactive Television
Commercial Identification Code; (k) a means of communicating an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session to a specific storage location, wherein the said storage location may/will contain a user selectable objects video object information data;
(1) a means of retrieving and processing the Video Object
Information data associated with a User Selectable Object; (m) a means of displaying a viewer controlled cursor; (n) a means of processing viewer commands , wherein the viewer commands may /will comprise; i) a user requested interrupt; ii) a means of direction and control of the position of a graphic cursor on a video display image; iii) a means of selecting an user selectable object or an available action via an user command confirmation request; and iv) any user command request that allows and permits the system to operate at its fullest and greatest potential; (o) a means of displaying television, Internet and other multime- dia communication data on separate windows of a split screen display; (p) a means of simultaneously displaying television, Internet and other multimedia communication data on different windows of a split screen display.
7. A method in accordance with claim 2, wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System further comprises a storage facility, whereby the said storage facility is capable of:
(a) a means of maintaining a viewer account database; (b) a means of maintaining a system database;
(c) a means of maintaining an electronic rewards product warehouse database;
(d) a means of maintaining a reward and transaction database; and (e) a means of maintaining an Interactive Television Commercial
Video Session database.
8. A method in accordance with claim 2, wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System storage facility is integrated with a processor, and wherein the said processor is programmed with and capable of:
(a) a means of communicating with a viewer(s) wherein the method of communicating with a viewer(s) comprises a communication module integrated with the processor (the " Communication Module " ) ;
(b) a means of performing account maintenance functions wherein the method of performing account maintenance functions comprises an account maintenance module integrated with the processor (the "Account Maintenance Mod- ule");
(c) a means of processing a viewer product processing transaction wherein the method of performing a product processing transaction comprises a product processing module integrated with the processor (the "Product Processing Module"); (d) a means of processing a reward and credit generating transaction wherein the method of performing a reward and credit generating transaction comprises a reward generating module integrated with a processor (the "Reward Generating Module");
(e) a means of processing a reward fulfillment transaction wherein the method of performing reward fulfillment transaction comprise a reward fulfillment module integrated with the processor (the "Reward Fulfillment Module");
(f) a means of processing a commission calculations and/or settlement transaction wherein the method of performing a commission calculation and/or settlement function comprises and a commission module integrated with the processor (the "Commission Module");
(g) a means of processing identifying, retrieving and transmitting an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session, wherein the Interactive Television Commercial Video Session is selected by a viewer, and wherein the method of performing a processing identifying, retrieving and transmitting a an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session selected by a viewer function comprises a an Interactive Television Commercial Selection Session Module integrated with the processor (the "Interactive Television Commercial Selection

(h) a means of processing an insertion of a Secondary Solicitation

(i) a means of determining a specific Television Program elected to be viewed by a viewer, and wherein there is a method of retrieving the said Television Program from a Television Program database and broadcasting the said Televison Program to a remote viewer location; (j) a means of generating a list(s) of viewers names, information and data which said list(s) may /will be commercially mar- keted by the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer
Rewards System system provider to other parties, wherein the method of generating a viewers names, information and data comprises a List Generation Module integrated with the processor (the "List Generation Module"); (k) a means of evaluating the effectiveness of a specific Interactive Televison Commercial Video Session wherein the method of evaluating the effectiveness of an Interactive Televison Commercial Video Session comprises Commercial Program Evaluation Program Module integrated with the processor (the "Commercial Program Evaluation Module");
(1) a means of evaluating the effectiveness of a specific Secondary Solicitation Image, wherein the method of evaluating the effectiveness of a Secondary Solicitation Image comprises a Secondary Solicitation Image Module integrated with the processor (the "Secondary Solicitation Image Module").
9. A method in accordance with claim 7, wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System comprises a viewer account database, and wherein the said viewer account database may /will comprise:
(a) a means of assigning and processing a unique viewer identification code wherein the unique identification code wherein the said code may be used in order to determine and identify a specific viewer; (b) a means of assigning and processing a unique viewer security code to each viewer wherein the viewer security code may be used as a method to determine that the assigned viewer is operating the Advanced Television at a specific viewer location;
(c) a means of assigning and processing a unique viewer account code whereby the said viewer account code may be used in order to determine a specific viewer;
(d) viewer information data, which said data may be provided by a viewer at the time that a viewer initiates and establishes a viewer account (the "Viewer Account Initiation Session") and/or at a time later or different then the said Viewer
Account Initiation Session and wherein the said viewer data may be purchased and/or acquired from a viewer for credits and or prizes and wherein each viewer conducting a Viewer Account Initiation Session may be required to provide a preestablished minimum amount of information in order to be assigned a Viewer Account and wherein the viewer information data which may be requested during a "Viewer Account Initiation Session" (or at a later time) may /will include: i) a viewer's name and identification data; ii) a viewer's contact address information data; iii) a viewer's birth date information data; iv) a viewer's territory information data (i.e. Country,
State, City); v) a viewer's family information data; vi) a viewer's income and employment information data; vii) a viewer's accommodation data (i.e. house, apartment, number of bedrooms; rent/own, etc.); viii) additional personal information data; ix) a viewer's payment mechanism information data (e.g. visa number); and x) any other data and/or information necessary to be provided by a viewer in order to allow the said system to operate at its fullest and greatest possible potential.
(e) viewer participation information data which said data may /will be compiled by the Television Commercial Frequent
Viewer Rewards System system provider automatically either with or without the viewers consent and which viewer participation information and data may /will include: i) the number of occasion's on which a specific viewer views any Interactive Television Commercial Video
Session of any type; ii) the number of occasion's a viewer views a specific
Interactive Television Commercial Video Session; iii) the number of occasions that a viewer of any Interactive Television Commercial Video Session purchases program and/or services advertised in those said commercials; iv) the number of occasions that a viewer of a specific
Interactive Television Commercial Video Session purchases the said advertised product and/or services; and v) any other information necessary in order to allow the system to operate and perform all necessary and beneficial functions at its greatest potential.
10. A method in accordance with claim 2, wherein the Television
Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System comprises a system database, and wherein the said system database may /will comprise:
(a) a means of storing and communicating product identification data; (b) a means of storing and communicating manufacturer identification data;
(c) a means of storing and communicating an advertiser identification data; and (d) a means of storing and communicating commercial identification data, wherein the commercial identification data may /will comprise: i) the number and frequency of occasions a specific viewer views a specific Interactive Television Commer- cial Video Session; ii) the number and frequency of occasions a viewer views a specific Interactive Television Commercial Video Session; iii) the number and frequency of occasions a viewer purchases an item after viewing an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session; iv) the number and frequency of occasions that a viewer purchase a product and/or service a viewer views any Interactive Television Commercial Video Session; v) the number and frequency of occasions a viewer purchases a product and/or service after viewing a specific Interactive Television Commercial Video Session; and vi) any other information necessary in order to allow the system to work at its greatest and fullest potential.
11. A method in accordance with claim 7, wherein the Television
Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System comprises an electronic rewards product warehouse database (the "Electronic Rewards Product Warehouse Database"), wherein the Electronic
Rewards Product Warehouse Database comprises: (a) a means of communicating with a remote viewer location via a wide world network arrangement (e.g.: Internet), whereby the said viewer is provided with a list of goods and/or services that may be purchased with rewarded credits, and further wherein the said products and/or services will be made available for purchase by the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System service provider and/or a product and/or service advertiser and/or any other party.
(b) a means of communicating with a remote location whereby viewers may view an Electronic Rewards Product Warehouse
Database, and wherein a viewer will Electronic Rewards Product Warehouse Database will be presented with a range and plurality of information and data relating to each of the products and/or services contained within the Electronic Rewards Product Warehouse Database whereby the said information and data will/may comprise: i) a means of communicating to a viewer the name of a specific product and/or service; ii) a means of communicating to a viewer a product description; iii) a means of communicating to a viewer the a specific product price; iv) a means of communicating to a viewer the visual image(s) of a specific product and/or services; v) a means of communicating to a viewer the specific name of a specific manufacturer and/or supplier of a specific good and/or service; vi) a means of communicating to a viewer a specific video session clip (when the specific product and/or service, is a product and/or service that is properly and readily demonstrated by means of displaying the product and/or service with a video session clip (e.g. video session clip advertising a movie); vii) a means of communicating to a viewer a description of the cost and method of delivering a specific good and/or service to a viewer location (when and if the delivery charge is not included in the product purchase price), and, alternatively if the product and/or service is not to be delivered to the said viewer location a means of communicating information to a viewer regarding how and at what physical location closest in proximity to the viewers home at which the viewer may pick up a purchased product and/or service (e.g. "Music Retail Shop"); viii) a means of communicating to a viewer location all taxes and duties owed by a viewer (if any) in consideration of the geographical location of the viewer location; ix) a means of communicating to a viewer location the complete purchase price of the product and/or service, which said complete price may /will include the product purchase price, transportation and delivery charges, in addition to applicable taxes, and any other additional expenses; x) a means of communicating to a viewer location the complete purchases price of the product after portion of the purchase price that will be paid in credits is debited; xi) a means of communicating to a viewer an estimate of the time at which a product and/or service will be delivered to a viewer location, and/or a method of communicating to a viewer the physical location at which a viewer may pickup and take possession of a product and/or service; xii) a means of communicating to a viewer location the complete purchases price of the product and/or service following the deduction of the complete purchase price paid in credits form the viewer's viewer account; and xiii) a means of communication to a viewer location any information and/or data which information and/or data is necessary in order to allows the system to operated at it fullest and greatest possible use and potential.
(c) a means of performing a viewer transaction wherein the viewer transaction includes: i) a means of providing information and data to a viewer relating to a product and/or service; ii) a means of processing an a viewer purchase request for a product and/or service; iii) a means of billing/requesting payment from a viewer for a product and/or service; and iv) a means of payment for a product and/or service purchased by a viewer.
12. A method in accordance with claim 2, wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System comprises a transaction database and the transaction database comprises: (a) a unique transaction identification code for each viewer transaction;
(b) a transaction code for each form and type of viewer transaction (e.g.: sold product);
(c) a viewer transaction date and time stamp; (d) a viewer identification code, which said identification code will identify the specific viewer that transacted the specific viewer transaction;
(e) a secondary solicitation image (if any) which triggered and is responsible for the viewer initiating the viewer transaction;
(f) the Television Program viewed by the viewer when the viewer triggered and/or initiated the said viewer transaction;
(g) an identification code for the level that a viewer reached within the parameters of the Interactive Television Commer- cial Video Session;
(h) a means of processing a viewer product purchase transaction wherein the method of payment for the product and/or service may /will include: i) a form of payment accepted and effectual by both parties, wherein the method of payment is made available through a wide area network arrangement (e.g. Internet electronic cash); ii) a form of payment and/or transferring funds from a credit card account; hi) a form of payment and/or transferring funds and/or credits from a viewer Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System viewer account; iv) a form of payment and/or transferring funds from a bank or bank like institution (e.g. Bank Account); v) a means of payment and/or transferring funds which does not include a method of electronic funds/cash transfer but instead is completed and transacted through some other means (e.g. cash, check); and vi) any means and form of payment not previously de- scribed, but the said means of payment is acceptable by all parties to the transaction. (i) a product identification code when and if a viewer purchases a product and/or service.
13. A method in accordance with claim 7, wherein a Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System comprises a
Commercial Program Database, and wherein the Commercial Program Database may /will comprise:
(a) a means of storing and processing a plurality of Interactive Television Commercial Video Session(s) wherein the said session(s) are available via a world wide network arrangement, or by some other means;
(b) a means of assigning and processing a unique commercial program identification code (the "Commercial Program Identification Code") for each specific and unique Interactive Television Commercial Video Session; and
(c) a means of retrieving, broadcasting and communicating an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session to a remote viewer location.
14. A method and apparatus in accordance with claim 8 wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System comprises a Communication Module, and further wherein the Communication Module may /will further comprise:
(a) a means of communicating a plurality of visual image(s) and other data from a principal broadcast location to a plurality of viewer locations;
(b) a means of receiving and processing viewer specification(s) and direction(s), which specification(s) and direction(s) will/may be received from a plurality of viewer locations; (c) a means of ascertaining that data received from a viewer location has been transmitted and received in an accurate and real time manner;
(d) a means of ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of the data transmission process; and
(e) a means of conducting any procedure and/or action required in order that the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System may /will function and operate at its fullest and greatest potential.
15. A method and apparams in accordance with claim 8, wherein a Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System comprises an Accounting Module, and further wherein the Accounting Module may /will comprise: (a) a means of performing Viewer Account maintenance procedures and functions, wherein the Viewer Account maintenance procedures and functions may /will comprise: i) a means of opening a Viewer Account for a new viewer; ii) a means of closing a Viewer Account for an existing viewer; iii) a means of inputting, and altering a viewer's Viewer
Account information and data; iv) a means of assigning a unique account code and a unique Personal Identification Code (PIN) to each viewer Account, and Viewer Account holder for the purpose of account access and account protection; and v) a means of inputting a viewers demographic data and information which may include a process of rewarding credits to a viewer that completes a demographic information data inquiry session. (b) a means of performing Viewer Account balance maintenance procedure(s) and function(s) wherein the Viewer Account balance maintenance procedure(s) and function(s) may/will comprise: i) a means of conducting an interactive fund transfer request transaction, wherein a viewer may purchase additional system credits, and the credits may be purchased with funds transferred from a remote source into a Viewer Account; ii) a means of conducting a cash/funds deposit into a viewer account wherein a viewer may deposit funds into a Viewer Account, and wherein the funds are transferred from a remote source into a Viewer Account; and hi) a means of conducting a cash/funds refund from a viewer account wherein a viewer may be refunded funds from a Viewer Account, and wherein the funds are transferred from a Viewer Account to a remote location.
16. A method in accordance with claim 7 and claim 8 wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System comprises a Product Access Module, and further wherein the Product Access Module may /will comprise: (a) a means of identifying a user selectable object that was selected by a viewer; (b) a means of retrieving product caption data related to the said user selected object, and wherein the said product caption data will include a network Hyperlink; (c) a means of delivering a viewer to a world wide network location specified by the user selected object's network Hyperlink;
(d) a means of registering that a viewer has conducted a product and/or service inquiry at the world wide network location specified by the user selected object's network Hyperlink; and
(e) a means of interactive communication between the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System provider and the world wide network location specified by the user selected object' s network Hyperlink, wherein the said communication will/may be for the purpose of conducting and processing a viewer transaction.
17. A method in accordance with claim 7 and claim 8 wherein a Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System is integrated with a Reward Calculation and Generation Module, and further wherein the Reward Calculation and Generation Module may /will comprise:
(a) a method of recording a viewer transaction wherein the method of recording a viewer transaction may /will include: i) a means whereby a viewer may /will view an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session which said session is solicited by means of a Secondary Solicitation Image; ii) a means whereby a viewer may comply with all parameters and requirements of an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session, which said parameter(s) and requirement(s) must be achieved prior to a viewer receiving and being rewarded credit(s) and/or prize(s), and wherein the parameter's and requirement's for a viewer being rewarded credit(s) and/or prize(s), may /will comprise: the viewer viewing an entire Interactive Television Commercial Video Session; - the viewer viewing a portion of an Interactive
Television Commercial Video Session; the viewer providing personal information data; the viewer purchasing a product and/or service; the viewer conducting a product inquiry; and - the viewer completing any task, action and/or activity required to be completed by the advertiser and/or system provider;
(b) a means of recording and storing viewer transaction data wherein the recorded and stored viewer transaction data may /will comprise: i) a unique viewer identification code; ii) an Interactive Commercial video Session identification code; in) a product identification code; iv) a Secondary Solicitation Image identification code; and v) a Television Program identification code.
(c) a means of calculating and assigning credits rewarded to a viewer, wherein the process of calculating and assigning rewarded credits is conducted periodically and/or immediately at the time of the completion of a viewer transaction.
18. A method in accordance with claim 8 and claim 15 wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System is integrated with a Reward Fulfillment Module, and further wherein the Reward Fulfillment Module may /will further comprise: (a) a means of maintaining an electronic rewards product warehouse database, wherein the said electronic rewards product warehouse database comprise images and information about goods and services, and wherein the said goods and services contained within the electronic rewards product warehouse database are available, and may be acquired by a viewer in exchange for rewarded credits;
(b) a means of delivering a viewer to an electronic rewards product warehouse database; (c) a means of allowing a viewer to browse through an electronic rewards product warehouse database; (d) a means of allowing a viewer to select a product and/or service from the products and/or services available within the said electronic rewards product warehouse database; (e) a means of allowing a viewer to purchase a product and/or service contained within an electronic rewards product warehouse database, wherein the viewer uses only rewarded credits to purchase a product and/or service, and wherein the purchase transaction will comprise: i) the product and/or service is purchased by a viewer for credits; ii) delivery and/or pickup arrangements are made between a system provider and a viewer; iii) a method whereby rewarded credits are deducted from a viewer account; and iv) the transaction is duly recorded in all relevant databases, (f) a means of allowing a viewer to purchase a product and/or service contained within the electronic rewards product warehouse database, wherein the viewer uses only rewarded credits in addition to some other payment means in order to purchase a product and/or service, and wherein the purchase transaction will comprise: i) a product and/or service is purchased by a viewer for rewarded credits, and wherein delivery and/or pickup arrangements are made; ii) a method whereby a viewer and/or system provider determines the ratio of credits and/or the ratio of any alternative payment method that will be used to complete the product and/or service transaction; iii) the determined amount of credits are deducted from a viewer's Viewer Account; iv) the transaction for the determined amount of funds due from an alternative payment source is completed; and v) the transaction is duly recorded in all relevant data- bases.
19. A method in accordance with claim 8 wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System comprise a Commission Module, and wherein the Commission Module will process, determine and assign based upon a plurality of pre-determined criteria and guidelines the percentage of funds due and owing to each of the party (s) involved in the viewer transaction process, and wherein the process of determining the percentage of funds and proceeds due to all party(s) will be processed at the completion of a viewer transaction, and wherein the said party(s) that may receive a percentage of the said funds and proceeds may /will include:
(a) the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System system provider;
(b) the Secondary Solicitation Image provider; (c) a product and/or service advertiser; (d) the owner of the Interactive Television Commercial Video Session;
(e) an electronic reward product's warehouse provider;
(f) a product and/or service provider; (g) a television program content provider;
(h) television channel and/or broadcaster; (i) revenue and taxing authorities; and
(j) any other party determined by the relevant parties to be owed and entitled to a portion of the proceeds of a viewer transac- tion.
20. A method in accordance with claim 7 wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System comprises a List Generation Module, and wherein the List Generation Module is capable of generating information and/or a data Ust, which information and/or a data Ust may be marketed and sold to a plurahty of user's, and further wherein the information and/or data list may/wiU comprise: (a) viewer names; (b) viewer addresses;
(c) viewer transaction frequency;
(d) viewer transaction occurrence records;
(e) viewer demography;
(f) viewer geography; (g) viewer product and or service preferences; and
(h) any information and/or data which said information and/or data the-system provider agrees to sell and the purchaser agrees to purchase.
21. A method in accordance with claim 8, wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards cystem comprises a Commercial Program Evaluation Module , and wherein the Commercial Program Evaluation Module is capable of a method of generating information and or data regarding the effectiveness of a specific Interactive Television Commercial Video Session, and wherein the process of determining and measuring the effectiveness of a specific
Interactive Television Commercial Video Session may /will comprise:
(a) a comparison and analysis of the performance and effectiveness of a specific Interactive Television Commercial Video Session based upon performance criteria, and wherein the said performance criteria may /will include: i) the value of aU goods and services sold; U) the number of sales; in) the average value of each viewer transaction; iv) the number of inquiries conducted by viewers when/and if additional inquiries are permitted within the structure of an interactive video session; v) the number of viewers that complete all requested actions in an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session, wherein the said commercial provides for differing rewards of credits based upon the number of requested actions a viewer completes; and vi) any other information and/or data required in order to allow the system to operate at its fuUest and greatest potential;
(b) a comparison and analysis of the performance and effectiveness of a specific Interactive Television Commercial Video Session, wherein the comparison and analysis of the performance and effectiveness of a specific Interactive Television Commercial Video Session is based upon a plurality of performance factors, wherein the performance factors may /will include: i) the geographical region in which a viewer is situated; ii) a viewer's personal information factors; iii) the time at which an Interactive Television Commercial
Video Session is broadcast to a viewer; iv) the Television Program a viewer is viewing prior to viewing the Interactive Television Commercial Video Session; and v) any additional information and/or data that is available and ascertainable and wherein the additional information and data will assist with allowing the system to operate at its fullest and greatest potential.
22. A method in accordance with claim 8 wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System comprises a Secondary Solicitation Evaluation Module, wherein the Secondary Solicitation Evaluation Module is capable of measuring the effectiveness of a Secondary Solicitation Image, and further wherein the effectiveness of a Secondary Solicitation Image is measured by a plurality of criteria, and wherein the said plurality of criteria comprise:
(a) a comparison and analysis of the performance and effectiveness of a specific Secondary Solicitation Image based upon performance criteria, wherein the performance criteria may /will include: i) the number of Interactive Television Commercial Video Sessions viewed by viewers which viewing session was initiated by a viewer interacting with a specific Secondary Solicitation Image; ii) the value of all goods and services sold to viewers which viewing session was initiated by a viewer interacting with a specific Secondary Solicitation
Image; iii) the number of sales of goods and/or services to viewers which viewing session was initiated by a viewer interacting with a specific Secondary Solicitation
Image; iv) the average value of each viewer transaction of viewers which viewing session was initiated by a viewer interacting with a specific Secondary Solicitation
Image; v) the number of products and/or services inquiries conducted, wherein the said goods and services inqui- ries was conducted by a viewer, which session was initiated by a viewer interacting with a specific Secondary Solicitation Image; and vi) the number of additional actions and inquiries are conducted by a viewer when/and if additional actions and inquiries are permitted within the strucmre of an
Interactive Television Commercial Video Session and which viewing session was initiated by a viewer interacting with a specific Secondary Solicitation Image; (b) a comparison and analysis of the performance and effectiveness of a specific Secondary Solicitation Image, wherein the method of analyzing the performance and effectiveness of Secondary Solicitation Image will/may be based upon a plurality of performance factors, and wherein the said plurality of performance factors may /will include: i) the geographical region in which a viewer is situated; ii) a viewer's personal information factors; iii) the time at which an Interactive Television Commercial
Video Session is broadcast to a viewer; iv) the Television Program from which a viewer is viewing prior to viewing an Interactive Television Commercial
Video Session; v) any additional information and/or data that is available and ascertainable and will assist with allowing the system to operate at its fullest and greatest potential.
23. A method in accordance with claim 8, wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System comprises a Secondary Solicitation Image Insertion Module, and wherein a Secondary Solicitation Image Insertion Module is capable of inserting a Secondary Solicitation Image into a Television Program.
And further wherein the Secondary Solicitation Image may /will be a user selectable video image object, and wherein the said object is made user selectable and further processable by means of a world wide network Hyperlink.
24. A method in accordance with claim 23 wherein a Secondary Solicitation Image may /will a command icon representing a plurality of Interactive Television Commercial Video Session(s).
25. A method in accordance with claim 7, wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System may /will provide a means of processing a viewer pickup transaction, wherein a viewer may /will pickup from a physical location (e.g. "Ticket Seller") a product and/or service, and the said viewer will/may pick up a purchased or rewarded product and/or service, and wherein the information and data necessary to be transmitted to the pickup location by the system provider and/or other party, and wherein the pickup transaction may /will comprise:
(a) a description and identification of a product and/or service to be picked up; (b) the amount of money (if any) owing by a viewer prior to the viewer picking up and taking possession of the said product and/or service; and (c) the name and/or identity of the viewer (or viewer designate) that will pick up a product and/or service from a product pickup location.
26. A method in accordance with claim 11 wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System provides a means whereby a viewer may be rewarded with, and the viewer may take possession of, electronic coupon(s), and wherein the electronic coupon(s) may/will be electronically delivered by the system provider and/or other party to a viewer at a viewer location. And wherein the said electronic coupons may /will be stored on some form of storage mechanism for later use by the viewer, or the said electronic coupon may be printed on some form of printing device and apparams, and following the said printing procedure the electronic coupon may become a physical coupon, and wherein the electronic coupon is a form of redeemable certificate, and the said coupon entitles the bearer of the said coupon to receive (in conjunc- tion with/or without another commercial transaction) some benefit.
And wherein the said benefit may /will include a discount on a product and/or service and/or a free entitlement to a product and/or service, and/or any other form of benefit.
27. The Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System may /will provide a method whereby a viewer must meet specific qualifications and parameters prior to being permitted to view and/or be rewarded credits for viewing a specific Interactive Television Commercial Video Session, and wherein the said qualifications and parameters for viewing an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session and/or being rewarded credits for viewing a specific
Interactive Television Commercial Video Session may/will comprise:
(a) a means of referencing a viewer(s) age against an age qualification criteria; (b) a means of referencing a viewer(s) sex against a sex qualification criteria;
(c) a means of referencing a viewer(s) socioeconomic status against socioeconomic status;
(d) a means of referencing a viewer(s) geographical location against geographical location criteria; and
(e) any specification(s) and/or parameter(s) determined by the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System system provider and/or a product and/or service advertiser(s), and any other party that may wish to establish parameters and qualifications, which parameters and qualifications must be fulfilled and/or completed prior to a viewer being permitted to view a specific Interactive Television Commercial Video Session and/or being rewarded with credits and/or prizes for viewing a specific Interactive Television Commercial Video Session.
28. A method in accordance with claim 7 and claim 9 wherein the
Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System may /will require one or more input participation actions by a viewer (the "Input Participation Action"), and wherein an Input Participation
Action may /will comprise a viewer input and/or action (e.g. answer a trivia question, pick your favourite color of carpet, etc.), which action and/or input may /will be required to be completed by a viewer by the parameters of an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session, and which Input Participation Action may /will be required to be completed by a viewer prior to a viewer receiving and being rewarded credits and/or prizes.
29. A method in accordance with claim 28, wherein a viewer may /will be required to complete an Input Participation Action while viewing a Interactive Television Commercial Video Session, and if the viewer fails to complete the said Input Participation Action the viewer may /will be returned to the same point within the Television Program at which the said Television Program was initially interrupted.
30. A method in accordance with claim 9, wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards will/may provide a method by which a viewer may conduct a Viewer Account inquiry.
31. A method in accordance with claim 9, wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System may /will comprise a Secondary Display Window, and wherein the Secondary Display Window may /will comprise a format and style similar to that of a ticker tape, and wherein the said ticker tape would occupy a secondary display window within the video display image, and the said ticker tape would run within an area and location at the edge of the video display image (i.e. Advanced Television screen), and the said image would run horizontally and/or vertically across the said screen without interfering with viewing the Television Program.
32. A random generator that may /will be capable of calculating a set of random criteria by which a viewer, or plurality of viewers of an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session may/will be rewarded with and receive a prize (e.g. five cars rewarded for viewing a commercial during Super Bowl).
33. A method in accordance with claim 32, wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System may /will be capable of randomly, or on a scheduled and determined basis, selecting questions that have not been previously answered by a specific viewer as part of that specific viewer's personal profile, and wherein the said unanswered viewer profiled questions are presented to the viewer whereby the viewer may receive credits and/or prizes in exchange answering the unanswered personal profile questions, and wherein the previously unanswered personal profile question(s) is/are completed and answered by a viewer, the said answer(s) will become part of the viewer's personal profile, and wherein the viewer will/may be rewarded with credit(s) and/or prizes.
34. A method in accordance with claim 9, wherein a plurality of viewers at a single viewer location may establish and be allocated with their own viewer account.
35. A method in accordance with claim 21 and claim 22, wherein the Television Commercial Frequent Viewer Rewards System may determine the type of Interactive Television Commercial Video Session best suited and most effective for a specific viewer, and wherein the said pre-determined Interactive Television Commercial Video Session will/may be specifically offered and made available to that a specific viewer at a specific viewer location, and further wherein an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session may/will be different from an Interactive Television Commercial Video Session being offered for display to a different viewer at a different viewer location and wherein both of the said viewers are viewing the same broadcast medium at the same point in time.
