Cosmetic compositions containing antimicrobial substances are known in the prior art. For example, EP 498 636 describes various thiocarboxylatamides as antimicrobial substances which can also be used in shaving creams. US 3,966,928 describes antimicrobial pyridacin-2-oxide derivatives which, inter alia, can be used in shaving creams if antimicrobial activity is required. French application FR 2 748 937 describes the use of α-alkyl glucoside or esters thereof as an antimicrobial preservative, inter alia, for shaving products. The prior art cited only speaks of preservation or mild antimicrobial activity when antimicrobial substances are added to shaving agents, which may also be sufficient to reduce the number of germs within a longer contact time. The cited prior art thus discloses that antimicrobial agents can be used in shaving agents, with nowhere to be found indicating active disinfection, in particular in a short time and with a lasting effect.

Accordingly, the prior art has the disadvantage that the shaving agents that are available are not suitable for making the surfaces to be shaved germ-free within a short time. This is particularly necessary if the microorganisms left after shaving can have a negative effect. The depilatory cream is a strongly alkaline formulation that usually contains keratin solvents. Because of the high alkalinity, hair removal cream has the disadvantage that if the hair removal cream is not washed off very thoroughly, skin irritation occurs. In addition, the depilatory cream does not contain an active disinfectant effect and does not leave a long-term biostatic depot effect on the skin.

Dry shaving results in skin lesions, redness and other skin stresses due to the mechanical stress on the skin. There is a risk that germs can collect and multiply at these points. With dry shaving there is also no active disinfection of the skin surface and after shaving there is no biostatic depot effect on the skin over a longer period of time.

When carrying out the wet shave, customary shaving agents are used, which likewise do not cause active disinfection and also do not cause any prolonged biostatic activity on the skin surface.

These disadvantages of the prior art in the preoperative area also apply to other areas in which shaving agents are used to shave surfaces. The invention has for its object to provide a shaving agent that has disinfectant properties and leaves a biostatic effect on the shaved surfaces. Accordingly, an object of the present invention is a shaving agent which disinfects the shaved surfaces during the shaving process, in a preferred embodiment the effectiveness of the shaving agent enables microorganisms, in particular gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and yeasts, to be reduced by a reduction factor within less than 2 minutes of contact time of at least 5 log levels in the quantitative suspension test.
