Abstract

According to the inventive method, a fuel cell is used for quantitatively determining alcohol. The alcohol to be determined reaches the anode (2) directly or indirectly and is oxidised at said anode. An oxidising agent or an inert gas are supplied to the cathode (4). The voltage (V) or current (A) which are produced in the fuel cell are used as a measuring instrument for the alcohol concentration.
