Abstract

The inventive method concerns the isolation and purification of short and long-chain nucleic acids from different biological and other starting materials and is characterized by the following steps: lysis of materials containing nucleic acids; incubation with a mineral supporting material; application on membranes having a pore size which is larger than the particle size of the supporting material; removal of the nucleic acids from the supporting material by elution, whereby the supporting material particles surprisingly remain on the membrane.
