Abstract

A device for hanging up media such as newspapers or periodicals for distribution of such media in hotels, at trade fairs etc., comprising a sheet material shaped to enable a newspaper or periodical to be placed therein, where the device is designed so that the device containing a newspaper, magazine or the like can be hung on a knob, door handle or the like.

Description

MEDIA CLIP
The present invention relates to a device for use in the distribution of media such as newspapers. To be more precise, the invention relates to a device involving a hanger which can be hung up on a piece of ironmongery, possibly a doorknob on a door, wherein the device provides space for, e.g., a newspaper, and in addition to which an advertisement can be printed on the outside of the hanger.
The distribution of newspapers, in particular the distribution in hotels, at trade fairs or the like, takes place in a more or less haphazard fashion. Everyone who has stayed in a fairly big hotel has seen a large number of newspapers lying on the floor in the corridor, which with varying degrees of diligence have been placed in front of the hotel room doors. Moreover, some newspapers are so bulky that they can almost not lie tidily on the floor. Sometimes a "cigar band", for instance, of paper, which is passed around each newspaper is used at the outset so that the newspaper will lie neatly on the floor. This prevents the newspaper from spreading out on the floor, but requires a separate work operation, in addition to which the newspaper must still be placed on the floor or optionally placed in special boxes on the floor.
The object of the present invention is to provide a device which may possibly be used several times, in which a newspaper or other periodical that is to be distributed can be easily placed, and which can be simply hung on a hook or on a doorknob. It is also an object to provide a hanger which allows an income to be obtained in that it has space for an advertisement or other information.
According to the present invention, this is achieved by means of a device for hanging up media such as newspapers or periodicals for distribution of such media in hotels, at trade fairs etc. comprising a sheet material shaped to enable a newspaper or periodical to be placed therein, and where the device is designed so that the device containing a newspaper, periodical or the like can be hung on a knob, door handle or the like.
To allow the device to be suspended, a part of the sheet material is preferably made in the form of a lip which in utilisation position points away from the part of the device encircling the contents, and where the lip is either made having a hole for suspension or is made in the form of a hook. With the present hanger, it is possible to distribute newspapers and other periodicals in a hotel, at a trade fair or the like in a neat and pleasing manner in that the newspaper or periodical is held in place by the present device which can be hung up on a hook, doorknob or the like, and where in addition information - such as an advertisement - can be printed on the device, it thus being a source of income for the distributor and thereby minimising the distribution expenses or forming the basis for an income from such distribution.
The present invention will now be described with reference to the attached figures, wherein:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a preferred embodiment of the present device;
Figure 2 shows a cut-out blank for the embodiment shown in Fig. 1.
The instant device in the embodiment preferred at present is made of a sheet material such as cardboard, and is cut out in one piece as shown in Fig. 2. During production the device is folded along the fold lines (4) indicated on the figure in order to form a hanger having a back (2) and a front (1), where the front consists of two folding sections (5), and a forward side (3) which, together with the back (2), form a pocket (9) wherein a newspaper, other periodical or the like can be placed. When the front and the back are glued or in some other way stuck together, a top section (10) is formed in which there is cut out a hook (7) for suspension of the device.
It is preferred to make the device of cardboard, although other sheet materials, such as plastic, can be used. Information of various kinds, such as advertisements or the like, can be printed, stamped or optionally glued onto the device. The information printed on the forward side (3) of the device will be particularly conspicuous and constitutes the main part of what is seen of the device when it is hanging up. An advertisement on this section would therefore be very valuable in the light of the clientele for whom it is intended, namely hotel guests, chiefly in business hotels.
After use, the present device can be collected by the cleaning staff and used again the next day, in contrast to the previously used "cigar band" of paper. To facilitate insertion of a newspaper or other contents into the present device, one of the long sides of the back is preferably made having an inward curve (6). An inward curve (6) of this kind may be on one or both sides of the opening formed by the folded device. However, to optimise the section which can be used for advertisements on the back of the device, the inward curve (6) is preferably only on one side of the opening.
In a possible variant of the variant of the illustrated embodiment, the top section (10) is equipped with a hole for suspension and is not cut out in the shape of a hook.
