Abstract

The invention concerns an electrochemical process for the quantitative determination of binding proteins in which the binding protein is a component of an antibody-conjugate system applied to an electrode. According to the invention: a) the antibody is immobilized on an expandable graphite electrode; b) the binding protein and a conjugate containing a phosphatase and antibodies are applied to the electrode such that they bind to form an antibody-binding protein-conjugate sandwich; and c) this electrode is mixed with a buffered solution of an aromatic phosphate ester and the cleavage product of the aromatic phosphate ester is measured amperometrically.
