Abstract

An automatic control device for motor vehicle windscreen wipers comprises a windscreen wiper motor (19) and a sensor (10) for detecting moisture on the windscreen. An electronic device has means (12-18, 21, 22) which switch on the windscreen wiper motor (19) for a given time-interval when a sensor signal is emitted and means (24) which suppress sensor signals emitted when the windscreen wiper motor (19) is moving. The evaluation of the sensor signals is therefore not affected by the actual wiping operation, and any variations in the wetting of the windscreen can be detected precisely by means of consecutive sensor signals. In addition, one sensor is sufficient for controlling a given wiping interval, and therefore signals for switching on the windscreen wiper motor are superfluous.

Description

Vorrichtung zur automatischen Steuerung von Kraftfahrzeug- ScheibenwischernDevice for the automatic control of motor vehicle wipers
Stand der TechnikState of the art
The invention relates to a device for the automatic control of motor vehicle wipers according to the preamble of the main claim.
A device known from DE-OS 33 14 770 detects a possible wetting of the window to be wiped via an optical sensor. The sensor signals are continuously fed to an electronic control device which generates control signals for the windshield wiper motor if the sensor signals indicate wetting of the windshield. By sweeping the surface of the window through the wiper blades, the continuously detected sensor signal is falsified. In particular, streaks can form on aged wiper blades and on soiled window surfaces, which in turn contribute to falsifying the measurement result. Because of these interferences, the sensor signals can be predominantly falsified, so that the evaluation of the sensor signals is very difficult overall. The windshield wiper itself can lead to additional false signals when the sensor is passed over.
Vorteile der ErfindungAdvantages of the invention
The method according to the invention with the characterizing features of the main claim has the advantage, that the evaluation of the sensor signals is not impaired by the actual wiping process, since no sensor signals are used for control purposes during the movement of the windshield wiper motor. Rather, the detection of the sensor signals takes place after the wiping process has ended at a precisely defined point in time within the wiping intervals, so that any newly added moisture can be detected in a defined manner. Any impairment by the windshield wiper itself is excluded anyway. The successive sensor signals can therefore precisely detect " changes in the wetting of the windscreen without fear of interferences that are difficult to calculate. Another advantage is that a sensor signal is sufficient to control a definable wiping interval s, so that superfluous switch-on signals for the wiper motor This leads to an increase in the service life of the electronic components involved and the control disk of the control wiper motor.
Advantageous further developments and improvements of the device specified in the main claim are possible through the measures listed in the subclaims.
The definable interval comprises at least one complete wiper movement. As a result, the switch-off signal at the end of a wiper movement can be used in a simple manner to control the next measuring process.
To set the definable interval, the sensor is expediently connected to the control input of a timing element, which actuates the windshield wiper motor during its holding time via a power control element. For this purpose, the windshield wiper motor must be provided with a holding device known per se for maintaining its operation during a complete wiper movement. Such a known holding device is usually one control disc coupled to the wiper motor. The holding time of the timer can be chosen to be so short that this timer just barely triggers the holding device. As a result, the sensor signal triggers only one wiper movement, while the wiper movement itself takes place in a known manner.
The means for suppressing the sensor signals have, in a circuit-simple manner, a switch connecting the sensor output or another point of the control connection between the sensor and the windshield wiper motor with a switch which makes the sensor signal ineffective. This potential is expediently the ground potential, so that the sensor signal remains short-circuited during the operation of the windshield wiper motor. This enables effective suppression of the sensor signals with very simple formwork means.
To reliably suppress the sensor signal during operation of the windshield wiper motor, the control input of the switch can be acted upon in particular by the output signal of the timing element and / or by the control signal of the holding device, the switch closing when such a signal occurs. A particularly favorable solution is that the control input of the switch is acted on by both signals, on the one hand to prevent further sensor signals from being suppressed immediately after the start signal for the wiper motor, this suppression then being maintained by the second signal during operation.
Ze i chn un gIn order to reduce the control signal of the holding device, that is to say the control disk of the windshield wiper motor, to the signal level of the suppression electronics, a signal level adjustment device which can be carried out in a simple manner is provided, which can be designed in particular as a Z diode which is connected to the control signal the holding device leading line is connected. Beschreibung des AusführungsbeispielsDescription of the embodiment
Wherein the * in the single figure Ausführungs¬ illustrated example, the output signal of a sensor 10 for Er¬ the wetness or wetting replaced on a non darge wheel set of a motor vehicle, for example, the Front¬ or rear window, via a resistor 11 to the control ¬ input of a monostable multi-vibrator timer 12 connected. The sensor 10, which is only shown schematically, can be, for example, the optical sensor arrangement with a downstream evaluation device according to the prior art specified at the outset. However, it is also possible to use other known physical sensor principles for the detection of moisture or moisture deposits on panes. For example, resistive, acoustic, capacitive or other suitable principles can be used for this.
The output of the timer 12 is connected to the base of a power transistor 15 via a resistor 13 and a diode 14 connected in series therewith. The emitter of this power transistor 15 is connected to ground and the collector via a relay winding 16 to the positive pole of a supply voltage U1. This positive pole is also connected via a switching path 17, which can be controlled by the relay winding 16, of a relay 18 to a windshield wiper motor 19, the second connection of which is connected to ground. This windshield wiper motor 19 drives a windshield wiper 20, as is symbolically represented by a dashed line. Of course, this can also involve several windshield wipers that are mechanically coupled to one another. The wiper motor 19 drives a control disk 21 in a known manner, by means of which a control switch 22 is closed after the start of the rotary movement, remains closed for a complete Wi-cycle interval s (a reciprocating movement) and is then opened again. Such a control disk 21 is provided in almost all windscreen wiper motors 19 used today. The closed control switch 22 supplies the windshield wiper motor 19 with the supply voltage U so, so that it also works when the relay 18 is open during the wiping interval mentioned.
Der Steuereingang des Zeitglieds 12 ist über eine DiodeThe control input of the timer 12 is via a diode
23 und einen dazu in Reihe geschalteten Kurzschlußschalter23 and a short-circuit switch connected to it in series
The short-circuit switch 24 can be designed, for example, as a switching transistor. The output of the timing element 12 is connected via an OR gate 25 to the control input of the short-circuit switch 24, a connection 26 of the wiper motor 19 which can be supplied with the supply voltage via the control disc 21 via a resistor 27 to a second input of the OR Link 25 is connected. This connection is connected to ground via a Z diode 28.
Durch die Z-Diode 28 und den Widerstand 27 wird die Ver¬ sorgungsspannung Üb auf die Z-Spannung der Z-Diode 28 be¬ grenzt, die so gewählt ist, daß die Versorgungsspannung Üb auf die erforderliche Steuerspannung für das ODER-GliedThe Z-diode 28 and the resistor 27 limit the supply voltage U1 to the Z-voltage of the Z-diode 28, which is selected so that the supply voltage U1 is the required control voltage for the OR gate
25 herabgesetzt wird.25 is reduced.
If the sensor 10 detects wetting of the window to be wiped as a result of precipitation, the sensor signal generated in this way triggers the timing element 12. During its holding time of, for example, 100 ms, an output-side control signal for the power transistor 15 is generated. In this way, the relay 18 is actuated and the windshield wiper motor 19 starts to turn. At the same time, the short-circuit switch 24 is closed by this output signal from the timer 12, so that the following sensor signals from the sensor 10 are short-circuited and the timer 12 cannot trigger again. Shortly after the start of the rotary movement of the wiper motor 19, the control switch 22 is closed by the control disk 21, so that the wiper motor 19 continues its rotary movement, even if the relay 18 drops out again after the 100 ms. During a complete wiping movement, the short-circuit switch 24 is kept closed via the signal at the connection 26.
After a complete wiping movement has elapsed, the control switch 22 opens again and a new start depends on whether a sensor signal from the sensor 10 is present again or is still present at this point in time. At this time, the short-circuit switch 24 is opened again.
The holding time of the timer 12 is selected so that a safe start of the wiper motor 19 is ensured, that is to say that the time until the control switch 22 closes (approximately 20 ms) is safely bridged.
This arrangement ensures that sensor signals are always detected only in the end position of the windshield wiper 20, that is to say not during its movement, in order to avoid falsified sensor signals through the wiper blade, through streaks or the like. to prevent or hide.
In a simpler embodiment, the connecting line between the output of the timing element 12 and the short-circuit switch 24 and the OR element 25 can also be omitted. It is accepted that sensor signals may still be effective at the start of the movement of the wiper motor 19.
If the holding time of the timer 12 is set so that it lasts longer than a wiping interval, so can accordingly two or more Wi interval s are detected by a sensor signal, that is, at least two complete wiping movements are carried out by a sensor signal until a new sensor signal is requested. If a timer with a variably adjustable hold time is used, the number of wiping intervals can also be set individually.
