Abstract

An arrangement (1) for a liquid supply channel (5) for deflecting the flow before it is discharged via an outlet channel (3) in a liquid jet printer. The arrangement permits the smooth deflection of a liquid flow between two liquid channels situated in a liquid jet printer. The liquid supply channel (5) extends tangentially to the outlet channel (3).

Description

1
Arrangement for a liquid supply channel
The present invention relates to an arrangement for a liquid supply channel for deflecting the flow before it is discharged via an outlet channel in a liquid jet printer. 5 The principal object of the present invention is, in the first place, to make available an arrangement of the kind indicated above, which solves the problem associated with the supply of a liquid at an angle in a liquid jet printer, so that a uniform supply of liquid is possible in spite of the fact that the 10 supply takes place at an angle in the relationship of the supply direction to the outlet direction.
Said object is achieved by means of an arrangement in accordance with the present invention, which- is characterized essentially in that the liquid supply channel extends tangentially 15 to the outlet channel.
The invention is described below as a preferred embodiment, in conjunction with which reference is made to the drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 shows a cross-sectional view of the channel 20 system in a nozzle; and
Fig. 2 shows a section along the line II-II in Fig. 1.
Arranged in a component 1, which is so arranged as to be capable of supporting a number of outlet nozzles 2 at the
25 outlet end 3A of each outlet channel 3, for the purpose, in conjunction with a liquid jet printer of a previously disclosed kind, of permitting the even and efficient discharge of a liquid, such as ink, from the nozzle 2, so that drops of liquid of identical size can be produced for application to the paper in
30 question or to some other recording medium which it is wished to mark, so that the marked points, which can form a desired letter, figure, character, image or other symbol, are at all times of essentially identical size in relation to one another, is a channel arrangement 4 in accordance with the present invention.
35 Said arrangement 4 comprises a liquid supply channel 5, in which a flow of printing liquid is supplied from an existing liquid reservoir to the intended outlet channel 3 in the direction of the arrow 6, whereupon it is deflected through a desired angle V before being discharged through the intended outlet channel 3.
Said supply channel 5 can extend along the top surface 7A of the component 7 in which the channel 5 is arranged, and can be in the form of a groove 5 open to the air. This groove 5 and/or one end 3B of the outlet channel is/are intended to be capable of being covered by a separate covering block 8, which can be connected to the component 7 containing the channel and can close the channel/channels 5 and 3 to prevent liquid from finding its way out in the wrong direction, so that it can be forced to flow in the direction 9 towards the outlet end 3A of the outlet channel 3, which can extend from one side to the other of the component 7 in which the channel 3 is arranged. The supply channel 5 discharges tangentially to the outlet channel 3, for example as shown in Figures 1 and 2 in the drawing.
The outlet channel 3 can be conical in shape, or can taper in some other way in the direction of its outlet end 3A, and can exhibit a channel-shaped part 3C, of essentially uniform thickness and preferably of cylindrical shape, at the outlet end 3A of said channel.
Liquid which is supplied in the direction 6 inside the supply channel 5 is deflected gently thanks to the tangential attitude of the channel 5 in relation to the outlet channel 3. The liquid will swirl in the direction of the arrow 10 along the boundary wall 11 of at least that part 30 of the channel 3 which is situated at the end 3B of said outlet channel 3, thereby being deflected gently. An angle V of 90° between the channels 5, 3, as shown in the drawing, will not encounter any resistance, and the liquid will be supplied evenly in the direction 9 towards the intended outlet 3A.
The invention is not restricted to the illustrative embodiment described above and shown in the drawings, but may be modified within the scope of the Patent Claims without departing from the idea of invention.
