Be it known that I, JOHN Punscorr SAN- nonn, u citizen ot' the United States of America, residing ut Cleveland, in the county of Cuyul'iogu und Stute of Ohio, have invented certain new und useful Improvements in Rectal Apparatus; und I hereby declare the following'v to be o full, clear, und exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and nee the sume.

The presentl invention relates-to improvements in apparatus for curing rectal disorders such ne piles und constipation and rclntes particularly to un apparatus adapted to be worn by the person aiicted with such a disorder, und having un attachment which will engage the effected ports in o manner such as to exert e. continuous healing action.

One of the objects of tbe invention is the wovision of un apparatus of the above charouter. which is more eliicient and effective in results attained thon the devices hereto- 'tore employed for the same purpose.

)i further object is the provision of an upparatus which muy be applied to tho body und worn continuously without causing,I discomfort und which may be readily odpisted so os to conform to u body of any size or proportions.

The invention muy be briefly summarized us consisting in certuin novel combinations and arrangements of parte which will be described in the specification und set forth in the ap )ended cluixns.

Referring now to the figures of the drawings 10 represents e. strap or belt which is adopted to be placed about the weist of the body as shown in Fig. 1, and this belt carries u strap 11 which is adapted to extend under the crotch of the body and is secured to the belt ut the front ond rear. At the ont the strap is divided, both ends bein secured to the belt, and at the rear the end of the strop is odjustzibly secured to the belt, in the present case, by means of a. buckle 12. The divided portion of the stra is covered by rubber 13 or other smooti substance to prevent abrasion or clmfing of the skin.

Carried by the strop 11 is a rectal device or attachment 1li the preferred construction of which is shown in detail in Fig. 4. This device as here shown, consists ot a cli or pluto 15 the sides 16 ot' which are dou led over so us to form u slot or groove which receives the strap und having on one side mrounded projection 17 which is adapted to engage und beur against the anus, und consisting also of n tubular or hollow cylindrical member 1S which extends outward through an opening in the center ot' the rounded projection and is adapted to extend into the rectum. rEhio member 1S bos u rounded clo'ed outer or free end and is held in position und prevented from. shifting outward by n shoulder 19 und is held ugoinst inward movement by u buse plnte 2O which fits in en opening in the clip und which is provided with n. boss or projection 21 which extends into the month of the tubular member. It is to be understood that the member 18 will be inserted in place before the strap is passed through the cli n, und after the strop is in place it will hold the buse plate and tubular member in position. It muy be stated that this member, which is preferably formed of zinc, serves os a. dilntor to assist the cure of constipation und es u remedy for the cure of plles und particolari? oi' that type consisting of internal hcniorr oids. The member is there tore provided with e number of perforations 22 und contains n suitable remedy 23 preferubl in the form of u. bnr or cylinder which wi l soften by the heat of the body so us to flow or pass through the crforutions onto thc hemorrhoids. In orc er that this remedy me always be in position to flow out througi the perforotions, I have provided means for feeding the same forward or toward the outer end of the tube und this means consists o' a plunger, plug or iston 24 in the tubular member and a spring .9.5 which beurs against the boss or projection 21 of th plate Q0 at the inner end of the member and against the plunger in a manner such us to tend to force the latter outward continuously.

It will be seen that the device 14 may be readily adjusted along the strap so as to occupy a position opposite the anus. When the device is in Josition the tubular member 18 will exten into the rectum and will act in the manner above described and at the same time the rounded projection 17 at the base of the tubular member 18 will press the protruding hemorrhoids into the rectum and hold them there as long as the apparatus is worn. The tubular member is termed of zinc for the reason that, as is Well known, this metal has healing properties.

In Figs. 5 and G, l have shown a rectal device similar to the one shown in Fig. et with the exception that the tubular member is omitted. As shown in these figures the device consists of a metal clip l5 which is adjustable along the strap as in the first instance and is provided with a rounded )rejection li which as described above will ear against the anus and hold into the rectum the hemorrhoids which would tend to protrude beyond the anus or sphincter muscle.

I do not desire to be confined to the exact details shown, but aim in my claims to cover all modifications which do not involve a departure from the spirit and scope of my invention.

What I claim as new and desne to secure by Letters Patent is:--

l. In a rectal apparatus adapted to be worn on the body, a strap to extend under the crotch said strap having mounted thereon a rectal device comprising a member having a rounded projection adapted to bear against the anus and a tubular member extending centrally from said rounded projection, and adapted to be inserted into the rectum.

2. In a rectal apparatus ada ted to be Worn on the body, a strap adaptec to extend under the crotch, a rectal device slidably mounted on said strap comprising a tube adapted to extend into the rectum, said tube having a number of perforations and containing a healing remedy, and means for exerting a continuous pressure on the latter so as to force the same outward toyvard the outer or free end of the tube.

3. In a rectal apparatus adapted to be worn on the body, a strap extending` under the crotch, and having mounted thereon a rectal device comprising a late having a tube extending therefrom an ada ted to be placed in the rectum, said device aving at the base of the tube a rounded projecting member adapted to bear against the anus, said tube having near its free end a number of perforations and containing a healing remedy, and means in said tube exerting a continuous pressure on the remedy to force the same along the tube toward the perforations.

4. In a rectal apparatus adapted to be worn on the body, abelt adapted to encircle the waist, an adjustable strap adapted to extend under the crotch and secured to said belt at the front and rear thereof, and a rectal device mounted on said strap and:

capable of adjustment thereon, said device comprising a plate having a groove through' which the strap extends and having a roundcd projection adapted to bear against the anus, and a tubular member extending centrally from said rounded projection and adapted to be placed in the rectum, said tubular member having near the outer or free end a number of perforations and containing a healing remedy, a piston or plunger in said member, and a spring bearin against the plunger to force the same an the remedy outward.
