Application filed February 18, 1908. Serial No. 416,595.
To all. whom fit may cof/wem:
Be it known that I, FRIEDRICH AEsoi-IBAGH, a citizen of the Republic of Switzerland,.re siding at Thorfeldstrasse 4942, Aarau', in Switzerland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in or Relating to Mixing-Machines; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable othersskilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference'being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this speciication.
This invention relates to improvements in mixing machines in -which the mixing tank is rotatable about its central axis and can'be inclined about a horizontal axis at a right angle to the central axis.
The invention' consists in construction, combination and arrangement of the parts aS. hereinafter described and claimed.
A construction according to this invention is illustrated by way of example in the ac'- companyiiig drawing, in which:

To the mixing tank 1 is secured a bevel toothedrim 4 provided with a sleeve 5 supported in a bearing 6 on a bridge or bracket 7, so that the mixing tank is arranged freely suspended. The bridge or bracket 7 is provided at both ends with pins 8 which have a ]oint horizontal axis at a right angle to the central axis 3. The pins 8 are rotatably supported in bearings in the frame 9. To one pin 8 is secured an extension in 10 which carries, on a sleeve 13, a fast plilley 11 and a loose pulley 12. Further, on the sleeve 13 is mounted a toothed wheel 14 which engages with a toothed wheel 15, the spindle 16 of which is supported in a bearin '17 secured to the bracket7. To the spind e 16 is also secured a bevel wheel 18 engaging with they bevel rim 4. To the other pin 8 is-secured a worm wheel 19 with which engages a worm 2O rovided with a hand wheel 21.
n the sleeve is loosely rotatable another sleeve 22 to which is secured a shaft 23 the central line of which corresponds with the axis of the mixing tank. On the shaft 23 is mixing tank 1. To the sleeve 5 is secured a toothed wheel 25 engaging with two smaller toothed wheels 26 which, in addition to two toothed wheels 27 mounted on the similar spindles 29, are arranged in a casing 28 secured to the bearing 6. The toothed wheels 27 engage with a toothed wheel 30 which is secured to the sleeve 22.
In working, the central axis 3 of the mixing tank 1 is arranged at an angle to the horizontal as shown in Fig. 1, which position makes it possible to heat or cool the mixing tank by placing a fire under it or by plunging the bottom 'portion of tlie same into hot or cold water. mounted the mixing blade 24 arranged in the central axis 3. The rotation is transmitted by the sleeve 5, toothed wheels 25, 26, 27 and 30 to the sleeve 22, and thus to the lshaft 23 and to the mixing blade 24 which rotates in the same direction as the mixing Vessel. The direction of rotation of the mixing blade could also be in the opposite direction to that of the mixing vessel, if the driving gear is suitably arranged. If it is desired t empty the mixing vessel 1, it is rotated, by rotating the hand wheel 21, the worm 20 and the worm wheel 19, about the pins 8 in the direction of the arrow shown in Fig. 1, in such manner that its central axis 3 comes into the position shown in Fig. 1 and marked 3.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention,
and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare thatwhat I claim is:
1. A mixing machine comprising a container having an opening in one end, a hollow bearing axle rigidly secured to the other end of the container, a rotatable support in which said axle is journaled, a rotatable spindle, a pinion fixed thereon, an annular rack on the closed end of the container in mesh with the pinion, a shaft in the axle, a stirrer in the container mounted on the shaft, and gearing connecting axle and shaft.
