Be it known that L 'lnonas l5. WILKIN- son of Los Angeles, in thecounty of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented a, new and Improved Gil-Gun, of which the following; is a specification.
This invention which relates generally to improvements in oilers, more specifically has for its object to provide a simple inexpensive and easily manipulated device for shooting or squirting lubricant oil, and it refers more particularly to improvements in that type of oiling devices in which a finger pressed plunger is provided, that is automatically moved in one direction'for drawing m; a charge and finger pressed for ejecting the said charge through the nozzle end.
My present invention comprehends an inn proved construction and arrangement of cylinder contained pump device and certain combination of parts, all of which will be first described in detail and then be specific ally pointed out in the appended claims. reitoreuce being had to the :u-companying drawings, in. which l igurc 1, is a perspective view of my iiivention and illustrating the manner it is manipulated for ejecting or shooting the lubricant. Fig. 3, is a similar view of the lower end and showing the position of the ball valve when the plunger is moved to its downward or ejecting position.
in. its practical arrangement, my present invention comprises a. main cylinder or oil holder 1, having an internally threaded tubular boss 10 at its lower end that extends inwardly from the bottom ll. and which commui'iicatcs with the outwardly projected and internally thruided boss 12? to which is detachably connected the threaded end of the ejector tube or nozzle 2, in which is located the ordinary type of back check ball valve 21 as clearly shown in Figs. 2 and 3.

The pump cylinder or tube 3 at the lower end has an inlet 32 that communicates with a late ally extending valve chamber 33 which has an inlet 34- thatis usually in open communication with the inlet and which isclosed by a ball valve 35 contained in the chamber 33 when pressure is applied to the plunger rod (30 that carries a pump piston (31 at its lower end and which travels within the tube or supplemental cylinder 3. The piston (ii is formed by fitting. two cup shaped leather members 62-432 back to back, and clamping same between two metal disks 63-o3 that are carried on the lower end of the plunger or piston head. as is clearly shown in Fig. 3. The piston or plan gel" rod tit passes up through the open end 35 of the pump cylinder or tube 3 and is automatically forced upwardly by a coil spring 7' under it, that is mounted in the lower end of the cylinder 3 and to hold the piston from being forced too far forward and out of the cylinder 3, a stop pin 8 is fixedly mounted on the rod 60 for engaging the upper or cap end of the main cylinder.
By reason of constructing and cooperalively joining the several parts in the man ner shown and described, the complete appliance can be economically made and the several parts readily assembled for use and arranged for being readily taken apart, since all that is necessary to sepa ate them is to unscrew the main cylinder cap which willpermit of conveniently pulling out the pump piston and rod, after which it de sired, the pump cylinder and its valve caslug can be quickly disconnected from the main cylinder.

Having thus described my inventlon, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is z- I 1 An oiler of the character described, which comprises a main cylinder or reservoir having a discharging nozzle at one end, atubular member within the cylinder connected with the nozzle end and in direct communication with the nozzle, said tubular member having an inlet at the nozzle end, a valve chamber external of the tubular member having an inlet normally in communication with the inlet to the tubular member, a valve contained in the said chamber adapted under fluid pressure from the tubular member to close off the valve chamber inlet, a piston in the tubular member having a rod that slidably projects through that end-of the cylinder or reservoir opposite the nozzle end and a spring for normally forcing the piston and its rod to its uppermost or normal position, as set forth.
2. The combination with the main cylinder or reservoir, having an ejecting nozzle at one end and centrally apertured closure cap at the other end, the nozzle end having an inwardly extended, internally threaded boss; of the supplemental cylinder or tubular member, having its lower end threaded to engage the threaded boss on the main cylinder, a valve chamber on the lower end of the tubular member having an inlet and an outlet, the latter opening into the tubular member, a ball valve within the valve chamber, a piston operable in the tubular member having its rod projected through the aperture in the cap of the main cylinder and a spring in the lower end of the tubular member for forcing the piston normally up ward.
3. The combination with the main cylinder having a discharging nozzle at one end y apertured cap on the other end; of an ejecting means adapted 'for being detachably mounted in the main cylinder, said means comprising a tubular member for engaging the nozzle end of the main cylinder for communication with the ejecting nozzle, a piston spring actuated for its injectingmovement and having a rod that projects through the cap of the main cylinder for being finger pressed to move the piston for ejecting the fluid through the nozzle, the tubular member having a single inlet at its nozzle end and a single automatically acting valve for controlling the opening and closing of said single inlet, as set forth.
4. The combination with the main cylin der having a discharging nozzle at one end and an apertured cap at the other end, said cap having a pair of oppositely disposed finger gripping members, the said main cylinder having an internally threaded boss projected inwardly from the nozzle end; of the tubular member 3 having a threaded lower end for engaging the threaded boss on the main cylinder, an inlet at the threaded end, and a valve chamber over said inlet, said chamber having an inlet, a ball valve in the chamber, a piston operable in the tubular member, a piston rod therefor that projects through the apertured cap, a stop washer on the said rod and the coiled spring located in the tubular member below the piston therein, all being arranged substantially as shown and for the purposes described.

An oil gun, that comprises a main cyl-- inder, a discharging nozzle at one end thereof, a head at the other end of the cylinder having a finger grip, a tubular'member within the cylinder that extends inwardly from the nozzle and is in direct communlcation with the said nozzle, said tubular member having an automatic valve controlled inlet that communicates with the main cylinder, a piston that operates in trolled inlet that that communicates with the main cylinder, a piston that operates in the tubular member, said piston being sprin forced in one direction and a plunger for t e piston that extends through the head having'the finger grip.
