The invention relates to evaporators or drying machines, and it consists inthe n'ovel construction and combination of' parts as hereinafter set forth.

At certain distances apart along the driv ing chain, are located 'pward projecting catches r, which are attached to, or form part of links of, said chainl These catches are usually of rectangular form in section, and they are desi ned to readily engage gravitating hooks s, o the racks, as Well as to hethrough an opening therein within the casing to return to the entrance end through an opening in the licor, also within the casing.

The-hook s, is a gravit-ating hook, and it is provided at its rear end with an npturned stop v)ortion n, which is designed. to engage the hottoin of the bracket plate, to prevent. the hook shank from bccomuw inclined downward below the horizontal.` 'lhe hook cud. or head w, how-` ever, can easily risc, and it is provided with a sloping or beveled loweredge or lace u, for a pur ose hereinafter explained. As the drive cham reaches the dischargeend ol" the casing, its downward movement over the sprocket wheel at this end, releases the rack hook from the link catch, and the rack therefore remains stationary in the casing at its discharve end near thedischarge doors, where it can he kept until the dryin is completed. which rojects slightly in rear of its bottom centr y' and is provided with a roller bearing 3. It is apparent that as the first rack remains stationary-*iii the discharge end of the casing, the next rack on the chain will be `soon brought up to it, and would push it from the drive chain, until the discharged. The discharge doors c, are lat- 'erally hinged, and meet inthe center, closing fward inclined arm 10, which is height and in by a broad flange or lap joint. The lap flange 4 is rovided at its upper end with an upward sli ing bolt 5, the up er end of which is designed to engage the en s of two sprin pins 6, which im 1n e a ainst the bevele sides 7, of said en gBy rawing the bolt 5, downward the doors become unfastened at the top.
The bottom fastening consists of a pivoted hook S, which is designed to engage a catch 9, rising from the floor of the casing, by gravitation. This hook has an upward and rearat the proper osition to enga e the hook of the rack, shoud such rack be orced against the doors, through any failure ol' the rack hooks in rear to become disengaged from the drive chain. In case of such an accident, the doors Will give at the top through the automatic disengagement of the s ring pin `catches from the beveled end of t e fastening bolt 5.
