Be it known that 1, 'ANTON SCHUERMANN, a resident. of the city of Decatur, county of Macon, and State of Illinois, ha .'e invented a. certain new and useful RollepBearing ,for Self-Closing Liquid Shut-Oils, of which the following is a. specification.
This invention is designed to facilitate the opening of sel--closing coc zs, faucets and the like and it. applies Yto liquid shut-oils in which the, opening motion is produced by r0- tarj motion against inolinedplanesand in which the closing is etl'ected by spring tension.
1 .In devices of this general type where loose balls or. rollers have been employed, there was the objection thatthey often fell out- -when the parts were disconnected and heconie lost. Moreover, if one ball or roller were slightly larger Athan the other or others- (as is almost. invariably thecase, either becauseof their imperfect formation or because of wearijn them or on the track ways) the larger roller sustains the force of the thrust and is liable to become crushed, While the smaller 'roller or rollers often stick in place and cram'p the device and certainly da vnot move simultaneously with the larger. roller nor through the same path. ,55' In the construction shown in Fig. 2, 22 is the cock body and 21 vthe cap between which is clamped a fixed disk 16. 24 is the valve mounted on a stem 23 which slides through this disk and is normally closed by a spring i0 25. Here also the fived way 2O is on the cap though it faces upward.

In separating the parts the s ider is readily detachable, and as the r o ers are 5 0. ournaled on the pins 4 they can not become ost accidentally as might be the case if the Were'loose. What 1s claimed as new is:
1. In a self-closing li uid shut-off, the combination with the be y havingV a valve seat, the valve, the valve stem, and means for normally closing the valve; of the cap, a fixed roller way carried thereby, the handle disconnected from said stem and rotatable with reference to the ca a movable roller Way carried by the han e and whose track is opposed to that of the fixed Way, a spider between said ways and having radial'pins corresponding to the depressions in said ins, and means for checking the rotation of t 1e handle just before said rollers reach the apexes of the tracks. 2. In a self-closing li uid shut-off, the combination Wit-h the bo( y having a valve seat, the valve, the valve stem, and the closing spring for the valve; of the cap, a fixed roller Way carried thereby, the handle disconnected from said stem and rotatable with reference to the ca a movable roller way carried by the hand e and whose track is opposed to that of the fixed way, a spider between said ways and having radial ins corres onding to the depressions in sai( tracks, rol ers ournaled on said pins, and a shoulder on the handle shank abutting against the cap justbefore the rollers reach the apexes of the tracks.
3. In a self-closing liquid shut-ofi, the combination with the body having a valve seat, the valve siem, and the valve; of the cap, a fixed roller w'ay carried thereby, the handle Whose shank is journaled through said ca but disconnected from said stem, a mov ab e roller Way carried by said shank and impinging against the stem,` the track of this 'way being opposed to that of the fixed way,
a spider journaled on the shank between said ways and having radial pins corresponding to the depressions of the tracks, rollers journaled on said ins, and means for checking the rotation o the handle just before said rollers reach the apexes of the tracks.
4. In a self-closing li uid shut-ofi', the combination with the body having a valve seat, the valve, the valve stem, and the closin spring for the valve; of the cap, a fixedroer way carried thereby, the handle whose shank is journaled through said cap but dis connected from said stem, a movable roller way carried by said shank and impinging against the stem, the track of this way.being opposed to that of the fixed wa a spider journaled on the shank between said wa s and having radial pins corresponding to t e .depressions o f the tracks, rollers journaled on' 130 i scopes said pins, and a shoulder on the handle shank abutting against the ca just before the rollers reach the apexes oi)said tracks.
5. In a self-closing li uid shut-ofi, the combination with the boi y having a valve seat, the valve, the valve stem having a reduced upper end, and a disk held on said end and guided Within said body; of the cap, a fixed roller Way wit-hin its up )er end, the handle whose shank is journaled through the cap but disconnected from the valve stem, a movable roller Way fixed to said shank and impinging avainst the reduced upper end of said stein, the track`of this Way being opposed to that of the xed way, a spider havmg a central hole journaled on the shank between the ways, and rollers carried by thespider and corres Ondine witlrthe tracks.
6. In a self-c osing di uid shut-off, the combination with the bo( y having a valve Seat, the valve,` the valve stem, and a guide on the stem moving within said body; of the cap, the handle Whose shank is journa-led therethrough, fixed and movable roller Ways carried bythe cap and shank respectively, that on the latter impinging against said stem, rollers between sald ways, and a spring etween said guide and a fixed part of the.

In a self-closing lit uid shut-ofi, the combination with the body havinv a valve seat, the valve, a spring for normally closing it, and the valve stem; of the cap, a handle having a rotary shank disconnected from the stem, fixed and movable roller Ways carried by the cap and shank and having undulations, a spidcr'between saidjvays, and rollers carried by the spider and corresponding with the depressions in the ways.
9. In a. self-closing li uid shut-oil", the
combination with the-bo; y having a valve l seat, the valve closing with the pressure, and the valve stem; of the cap, a handle having a rotary sha-nk disconnected from the st em, fixed and movable roller ways carried bythe cap and shank and having undulations, a spider between said ways, and rollers carried by the spider and corresponding with the depressions in the Ways.

In a self-closing li uid shut-ofi, the combination with the bo y having a valve seat, the valve, moans for normally closing it, and the valve stem; of the cap, a handle having a rotary shank disconnected from the stein, fixedv and movable undulated roller ways carried by the ca and shank, a spider between said vvays, :infr spider and corresponding with the depressions in the Ways.
11. In a self-closing li uid shut-ofi, the combination with the bo y having a valve seat, the valve closed by the pressure, a spring for holding it normall closed, and the valve stem; of the cap, a andle having a rotary shank disconnected from the stein, fixed and movable roller Ways carried by the cap and shank, a spider between said wa vvs, and rollers carried by the spider, the movable vway in its movement engaging said stem and opening the valve.
12. In a self-closing liquid shut-oli', the combination 'with the body having a valve seat, the valve closed by the ressure, means for holding it normally close( and the valve stem; of the cap, a handle having a rotary shank disconnected from 'the stem, fixed and movable roller ways carried by the cap and shank, a' spider between said Ways, and rollers carried bythe spider, the movable Way in its movement engaging said stein and opening the valve.
