The invention consists of novel features and parts and combinations of the same, which will be more fully described hereinafter and then pointed out in the claims.

A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corres onding parts in all the views.

As shown in Fig. 3, the cover D is provided on its upper face with a centrally-arranged knob E, and. on its under face with annular seats F arranged in two series, the seats in each series ap earin in step form and in ascending and escen ing shape.

From the foregoing it, will be seen that by having the seats arranged in the manner described, a very snug fitis had on the mouth of the vessel to be covered, and the cover is securely held in place on the mouth owing to the arrangement of the seats in ste form, so that the cover is not liable to acci ental displacement.

The'cover shown in Figs. 1 and 2 can be used with either face down and as the seats on the opposite faces alternate, it is evident that an extremely large number of seats are provided for engagement with vessels of diferent sizes.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. A cover for household and culinary ves.

3. A cover for household and culinary vessels, having a central knob on its upper face,

and a lurality of concentric annular seats on its un er face arranged in ste form, the seats being arranged in series, t e seats of one series progressively increasing in diameter from the top seat downward, and the seats of the other series progressively decreasing in diameter from the top seat downward. 4.
