Be it known that I, JOHN D. CUTTER, a
citizen of the United States, and a resident,
of the city of New York, borough ofBrooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York,'have invented a new and useful Improvement in Dental Floss, of which the fol-,

The object of the invention is to construct the floss in the form of a ribbon instead of giving it the acoustomed twisted shape, thus enabling the improved floss to be more conveniently entered between the teeth, and to enter narrower crevices than twisted floss; and also in operation the improved floss covers a greater amount of surface.
The invention consists in the novel construction and combination of the several parts as will be hereinafter fully set forth and pointed out in the claims.
Reference is to be had to the accompany ing drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved floss wound upon a ocre, and Fig. 2 is an enlarged plan view of a piece of the said floss illustrating the manner in which it is constructed.
The improved floss A may be of any desired length, and is in the form of a ribbon or tape, having opposing fiat sides.
The floss is 'usually cross-wound, as is shown at 11 in Fig. 1, on a core 12, and in the JOHN D. CUTTER.
