To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, ROBERT A. EDGAR and WILLIAM W TOBEY, of Iola, in the county of Allen and State of Kansas, have invented a new and useful Improvementin Ticket-Cases, of which the following is a specification.

Our invention relates to ticket-cases for holding railroad-tickets or other similarcards in a safe and orderly way under lock and key, so that they may not be tampered with and yet permit them to be successively and conveniently removed by the tickehseller.

It is an improvement in that class of ticketcases in which the tickets or cards are held flatwise in a series or column and are pressed to the front by a spring-follower in rear of the column, and one ticket from the front of the column is discharged at a time by a springplunger moving in the plane of said front ticket and pushing the same out endwise from the column into reach of the ticket-seller.

Our invention consists in the new and improved construction and arrangement of the case and its actuating parts operating upon the above-named general principle, which we will now proceed to describe, with reference to the drawings, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of one of the sections or units of the case; Fig. 2, a vertical longitudinal section through the same on line 2 2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a rear view in perspective of the face-plate, and Fig. 4 is a broken perspective View of the ticket-holder or magazine.

The case as a whole is made up of any number of units or sections, such as are shown in the above-described views, which sections are to be assembled in both horizontal and vertical rows. As each section or unit is a duplicate of every other section, it will be sufficient to describe only one of them.

A is a flat vertical case having itsfront side inclined, as shown in Fig. 2. At the lower portion of the case on its front there is articket-holder is a sheet-metal box open along its upper side and also at its front end. It;

turned flanges b b, which hold the tickets against being pressed out by the spring-follower, and the magazine at its bottom between these flanges is cut away a little more than the thickness of a ticket, so that the end ticket held against the flanges by the springfollower may be pressed down and out fro the magazine.

The follower C has at the top a right-angular extension or lip Z, which sliiles under inturned flanges ff along the upper edges of the magazine and serves to guide and hold the follower true in its advance movement.

The magazine B is detachably slid into a chamber about the middle of the case, formed by the two sides of the case and the upper and lower partitions E E, the entrance being effected from the rear of the case through a hinged door E, which may be opened by being let down, as shown in dotted lines, and when turned up and closed is held by asuit able catch 0. Each of these doors F may be controlled by a separate lock and key; but we prefer to have a single door with lock and key for closing in the rear ends of all of the sections at once. On the inclined front edge of the case is detachably fixed a metal face-plateG, having a glazed window gin it immediately in front of the magazine or ticket-holder and through which window the ticket is in full view. Back of the face-plate and sliding up and down against the same in guides is a plunger-plate H. This has an opening h in it which is normally in coincidence with the column of tickets and the glazed window. Just above this opening and fixed to the back side of the plunger-plate is a projecting bar I, whose lower edge is in the same plane with the front ticket of the column in the magazine, and when said plungerplate descends the projecting bar strikes the top edge of said front ticket-and forces it down and out upon the chute-board a. The upper end of this projecting bar I is bent inwardly at right angles to the face-plate and rests on top of a helical spring J ,which normally holds the plunger-plate up with the ticket exposed through the window. This spring is contained in a barrel K, slotted longitudinally on its front side to give passage-way to the bent end of bar I, and both the barrel and the spring rest upon the upper partition E of the case.

To bring the plunger-plate down, a shank L is attached to its lower end and projects through a slot in the face-plate and is provided with a knob or finger-piece Z, by depressing which the plunger is brought down and the ticket discharged.

Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. Aticket-case comprising an upright outer casing, a magazine or holder for tickets with spring-follower arranged about the middle of the casing, a helical upright spring arranged above the magazine, and a plunger-plate arranged to reciprocate across the end of the magazine and having its upper end extended over the top of the helical spring and having also a knob or finger-piece for operating the plunger-plate substantially as described.

2. Aticket-case comprising an uprightouter casing having about its middle upper and lower partitions forming a magazine-chamber, a separate detachable magazine arranged therein and provided with a spring-follower, a rear door for closing in said magazine, and

a plunger arranged at the front end of the magazine and reciprocating across the end of the same to discharge the end ticket as described.

3. Aticket-case comprisinganuprightouter casing having an inclined face-plate, a magazine for tickets with a spring-follower arranged about the middle of the case, a reciprocating plunger arranged in guides behind the face-plate and moving across the end of the magazine, and a chute located below the magazine to receive the discharged ticket substantially as described.

4. A ticket-case comprising an upright outer case having an inclined face-plate, upper and lower partitions arranged about the middle of the case to form a magazine-chamber, a detachable magazinelocated therein, a door closing the rear end of the magazine-chamher, a spring located above the magazine, a

reciprocating plunger arranged in guides behind the face-plate and having an upper extension resting above the said spring, a depressing-handle for the plunger, and a receiving-chute for the ticket located below the magazine substantially as described.
