To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, NICHOLAS FANCHER, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Johnstown, Fulton county, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Glove'Casespf which the following is a specification.

Myinvention relates to devices for displaying, retaining, and transporting gloves; and the object of my invention is'to provide a neat and serviceable package within which a pair of gloves may be infolded, together with a case to which several of the aforesaid packages may each be removably attached and the contents thereof advantageously displayed and the case capable of being folded into a compact form for transportation. I attain this object by means of the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a plan; Fig. 2, an end elevation; Fig. 3, arear plan View of one of the packages; Fig. at, a front plan View of one of the packages; Fig. 5, a plan view of the case folded.

The case A, constructed of leather, cloth, paper, or other suitable material, is preferably provided with an overlapping piece B B at each end and projecting overlapping pieces 0 D E F on the sides thereof, preferably at or about midway between the ends of the case. Within the case I place a series of packages G, preferably securing them therein by means of a tape, ribbon, or other fastening g,which fastening-tape passes throughthe packages G,preferably at or near each end, and through suitable openings in the case and is tied or fastened at the back of the case, as indicated in Figs. 1 and 2.

The packages G are made up of preferably a single piece of material, out to form leaves H J on the side, adapted to fold over on the center piece K and to be held in position by the tongue h, fitting in the slotj, as shown in Fig. 4. The ends of the center piece K are preferably provided with the overlapping pieces 70. For convenience in folding I preferably cut the leaves H and J near their ends, as at L M. As thus arranged a pair of gloves or more than one pair, if desired, may be placed on the center portion K, the leaf J folded over, the leaf H placed on top of the leaf J, and the tongue h fitted within the slotj. The end pieces 7t are then folded, fitting within theopenings L L and M M, respectively.

Through the center piece K, near each end, I preferably place a tape or ribbon g. For that purpose I preferably out two parallel slots N N near each end for the passage of the ribbon, as shown in Fig. 3, the ribbon then passing through corresponding openings 0 O in the case'A and tied at the back of the case.

The case may be made to hold a half-dozen packages, as shown in Fig. 1, or any desired number.

When a pair of gloves are displayed to a customer, the case is opened. The package contraining the gloves is also opened, and when the gloves have been selected the package is closed and the tape or ribbon untied and the package containing the gloves given to the customer, the package forming a neat and serviceable protection for the gloves, also an advertisement for the glove-dealer, since on the package may be printed an advertisement when desired. Another package containing gloves may be inserted in the place of the one taken out, and in this way the case may be kept filled, and the case containing the packages maybe folded, as shown in Fig. 2.. The

overlapping pieces B at the ends of the case are folded upon the adjacent packages, re

spectively, and the packages are folded, preferably from each end to the center, and the overlapping pieces 0 and E may be placed over the ends of the packages which have been folded upon that portion of the case to which they are attached, thus protecting the ends. Then the case is further folded upon that portion to which the projecting pieces D and F are attached, and the overlapping portions D and F are then folded over and a portion thereof placed within the slots (l f, respectively, and the case is ready for packing away or transporting, as desired.
