Description

No. 682,062. Patented Sept. 3, I91. A. HABERSTROH.
ADHESIVE FASTENER.
(Application filed May 24, 1901.)
(No Model.)
Ya: mum: mun: cu. wo'rc-uruou WASNINGYON, n c,
UNITED STATES ALBERT HABERSTROH, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
ADHESIVE FASTENER.
Application filed May 24, 1901.
To all whmn it ntay concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT HABERSTROH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Adhesive Fasteners, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in adhesive fasteners for temporarily attaching one object to another-for instance, articles of cloth or papers to other objects, to tables, desks, walls, glass, &c.so as to be readily removed therefrom when so desired, as will hereinafter be more fully shown and described, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure 1 represents a front elevation of one form of my improved adhesive fastener. Fig. 2 represents a rear view of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 represents a cross-section on the line 3 3 shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 4 represents a front view of another form of my improved adhesive fastener. Fig. 5 represents a rear View of Fig. 4, and Fig. 6 represents a cross-section on the line 6 6 shown in Fig. 4.
Similarletters refer to similar parts wherever they occur on the difierent parts of the drawings.
The improved adhesive fastener consists of two members A and 13, shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 3 as arranged in the form of a cross and in Figs. 4, 5, and 6 as arranged in the form of annular and circular disks, which are cemented together by any suitable adhesive material, as may be desired. The inner surface of the portion Ais provided with an adhesive coating a, as shown in Fig. 2, and the inner surface of the portion B is provided with a similar adhesive coating 19, as shown in Fig. 1. a and Z) represent similar adhesively-coated surfaces on the disks A andB in Figs. 4, 5, and 6. It will be observed that the active adhesive surfaces of the two members are out of register with each other.
In using the device the cemented or dated September 3, 1901.
Serial No. 61,780. (No model.)
gummed portions or a of one side of the fastener are temporarily attached to one of the objects or surfaces by gently pressing such adhesive portions a 0. against the object, af ter which the article that is to be attached to such object is placed on top of the fas ten'ers and temporarily attached by pressing it onto the gummed or cemented portions b b. By this arrangement a doily or table cover may readily temporarily be attached to the top of a table or a tidy attached in a similar manner to the back of a chair, &c., or a sheet of textile or fibrous material attached temporarily to a wall, surface, or other object, as may be desired.
In a device of this kind it is essential that it should be composed of two parts attached together, one of said parts being gummed or cemented on its front side and the other on its rear surface, so as to enable the device to be temporarily attached to opposite objects or surfaces for the purpose above described. The form, size, or shape of the parts composing the oppositely gummed or cemented portions is immaterial, as they may be made cruciform or circular, square, or otherwise, as may be desired, without departing from the essence of my invention.
What I wish to secure by Letters Patent and claim is- The herein-described adhesive fastener, consisting of two members connected together and having their inner faces provided with an adhesive substance, the active adhesive surfaces of the two members being out of register with each other, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my'hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ALBERT HABERSTROH.
