C C is an iron slide, being made fast in B and movable back and forth.; through a mortise in A A. D is a steel spring, one end screwed or riveted to the side of A A and the other end being bent and goingthrough A A so as to strike the slide C C with sul'ieient force to prevent its sliding of itself.
