LABEL-HOLDER.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 605,213, dated June 7, 1898. l

To all whomr t may concern:

Be it known that I, JOSEPH R. WELLER, a citizen of the United States,'residing at De Graff, in the county of Logan and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Label-Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being "had therein to the accompanying drawings.

My invention relates to an improved labe1- holder designed particularly for use in connection with druggists bottles; and it has for its object the production of a label-holder of such construction as to adapt it for being easily and quickly secured to a bottle of any shape. l

The invention will first be described in connection with the accompanying drawings'and then pointed out in the claim.

Figure l of the drawings is a perspective view of a bottle with my improved label-holder in place, a number of labels being shown in the holder. Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective view of the label-holder, partially broken out to show the means for preventing accidental displacement of the labels. Fig. 3 is an enlarged horizontal sectional view of the'same.

Referring to the drawings, A represents my improved label-holder, comprising a broad base l of thin elastic material, such as celluloid or the like, and a box-like pocket 2, open at top and closed at bottom, centrally secured to the base, the pocket being ,made Vof the same material as the base and preferably of a single blank, the lower end 3 and side walls 4 being bent inward and glued or otherwise secured to the base, as clearly shown in the drawings. Immediately in rear of the pocket a tongue 5 is cut in the base, the base formt ing the rear wall'of the pocket, and bent in- 1 to the body of the bottle, as shown in Fig. l. By securing the holder to the bottle labels C contained in the holder and designating the contents of the particular bottle-to which the .holder may be attached are convenient to the druggist, and mistakes frequently arising from using the Wrong label are easily avoided.

By constructing my label-holder with a broad thin elastic base I am enabled to adapt the holder for use in connection with bottles of any shape, as the base will accommodate itself to the shape of the bottle, as will be evident, thus permitting the holders to be manufactured in large quantities without regard to the particular'shape of the bottle to which they may be applied. Furthermore,

. by constructing the base of elastic material I secure an easy and cheap manner of forming the spring-tongue for holding the labels in place.

I am fully aware that label-holders for use with bottles have been heretofore constructed; but all such holders with which I am familiar have rigid bases specially formed so as to conform to the shape of the bottle to contain a number oflabels, the base forming the rearwall of said pocket, and a tongue cut in the base and projectinginto the pocket.
