A suppository is carried within a sealed container which has an inside diameter substantially equal to the outside diameter of the cylindrical cartridge container and a suppository being carried loosely therein and having substantially the same diameter as the inside diameter of the cylindrical cartridge container so that a lid on the sealed container can be opened and the remainder of the container slidably receiving the cylindrical cartridge container with the suppository snugly and slidably received within the cylindrical cartridge container and the suppository container snugly and slidably receiving the cylindrical cartridge container. 1 Claim, 3 Drawing Figures 1 TAMPON AND SUPPOSITORY COMBINATION PRIOR ART BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a tampon and suppository combination and more particularly to a tampon and suppository combination with storage and applicator implements.
As utilized in this description, the term suppository refers to any state of the art suppositories such as the capsule type containing a medicated powder therein, or the standard germicidal and spermicidal suppositories. According to the invention, an applicator is provided having an elongated cylindrical member dimensioned for slidably receiving a tampon there in. At one end of the elongated cylindrical member a'hollow plunger member is slidably received being in contact with one end of the tampon and having'a draw string from the tampon pulled through the plunger and extending out the free end thereof. A suitable suppository is dimensioned for being snugly and slidably received by the other end of the cylindrical cartridge container and in contact with the other end of the tampon. The suppository is carried by a sealed container having a removable seal on one end and an inside diameter for snugly receiving the outside of the cylindrical cartridge container, the suppository being loosely carried by the suppository container with room for the cylindrical cartridge container to pass between the outside of the suppository and the inside of the suppository container. At this point of time, the entire combination is ready for use. When insertion is desired the suppository con tainer is removed from the cylindrical cartridge container and the entire applicator is placed within the vagina of the user. The plunger is then pushed in deposit ing the suppository and tampon with the suppository being held in place by the tampon. At this time, of course, the applicator is removed.
An object of the present invention is the provision of an improved suppository and tampon combination. I
Another object is the provision of an improved suppository and tampon combination with unique storage means.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a tampon and suppository combination with improved applicating implementation.
Yet another object of the invention is the provision of a tampon and suppository combination which is extremely convenient and sanitary in storage and use.
Other objects and many of the attendant advantages of the instant invention will be readily appreciated as the same becomes better understood by reference to the following detailed description when considered in connection with the accompanying drawing in which like reference numerals designate like parts throughout' the Figures thereof and wherein.
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention without the suppository;
FIG. 2 is a side elevational view and cross section illustrating the embodiment of FIG. 1 with the suppository in position for loading;
FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the embodiment of FIG. 1 during application.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING Referring to FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, an elongated cylindrical cartridge container 11 slidably receives a hollow plunger member 12 through end opening 15 thereof and has a circular end opening 13 at another end thereof. A tampon 14 is slidably received within cylindrical cartridge container 11 and has one end 16 abutting hollow plunger 12 with strings 17 attached to tampon l4 and passing through hollow plunger member 12.
A suppository 18 is loosely carried by a suppository container 19 (FIG. 2) and has a sealing lid 21. Suppository 18 is dimensioned for being snugly received by cylinder 11 and abutting tampon l4. Suppository container 19 is dimensioned for snugly receiving container 11 therein.
Referring back to all of the Figures, during storage, a tampon can be placed within cylindrical cartridge container 11 as shown in FIG. 1 and preferably a cap (not shown) is placed over the open end 13 of container 11 for sanitory purposes. At this time, the suppository 18 is carried within container 19 with lid 21 sealing container 19 for sanitary purposes. When it is desired to load the cylindrical container 11 with suppository 18, lid 21 is opened, as shown in FIG. 2, and suppository 18 is slidably received by cylinder 11 in abutting relationship with tampon 14. The container 19 slidably receives cylinder 11 and the entire unit is ready for application in a sealed sanitary condition. When it is desired to insert the suppository and tampon, the container 19 is removed from around cylinder 11 and the entire assembly is placed within the vagina of the user. At this time, plunger member 12 is depressed, forcing suppository 18 and tampon 14 into the vagina and the cylinder 11 is removed therefrom. The applicator is then ready for the next loading and application.
It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing disclosure relates to only a preferred embodiment of the invention and that it is. intended to cover all changes and modifications of the example of the invention herein chosen, for the purposes of the disclosure, which do not constitute departures from the spirit and scope of the invention.
The invention claimed is:
1. A tampon and suppository combination comprising:
an elongated hollow cylindrical cartridge container dimensioned for receiving a tampon therein, said cartridge container having walls defining first and second end openings;
a hollow cylindrical plunger slidably received in an end portion adjacent said first end opening of said cartridge container;
a tampon centrally and slidably received by said cartridge container;
a means for inserting a suppository and selectively closing the end portion of said second cartridge opening comprising a walled container of the same shape as the cartridge and having an open and closed end and having mounted therein a suppository loosely fitting but substantially filling the con- 4 and retaining said suppository in said cartridge second end abutting the tampon but leaving an end portion of said suppository extending outwardly from the cartridge second end.
Claims (1)
1. A tampon and suppository combination comprising: an elongated hollow cylindrical cartridge container dimensioned for receiving a tampon therein, said cartridge container having walls defining first and second end openings; a hollow cylindrical plunger slidably received in an end portion adjacent said first end opening of said cartridge container; a tampon centrally and slidably received by said cartridge container; a means for inserting a suppository and selectively closing the end portion of said second cartridge opening comprising a walled container of the same shape as the cartridge and having an open and closed end and having mounted therein a suppository loosely fitting but substantially filling the container, an inner portion of said wall of said container and the outer wall of said suppository being sizEd to snugly receive between them the walls of the second opening of the cartridge, so that when the container is placed upon said cartridge second opening a means is defined for frictionally inserting and retaining said suppository in said cartridge second end abutting the tampon but leaving an end portion of said suppository extending outwardly from the cartridge second end.
