Description

United States Patent [1 1 Armstrong 9 51 Oct. 29, 1974 PIPE HOLDER DEVICE [75] Inventor: Paul 11. Armstrong, Orange, NJ.
[73] Assignee: The Raymond Lee Organization,
Inc., New York, NY. a part 254,226 7/1926 Great Britain 131/186 142,002 4/1920 Great Britain 131/186 11,392 4/1903 Austria 131/186 Primary Examiner-J0seph S. Reich Attorney, Agent, or FirmHoward I. Podell [57] ABSTRACT A device which is attachable to the stem of a smokers pipe for the purpose of holding the pipe in the smokers mouth without necessitating the use of the smokers hands. The device comprises a metal wire frame which is attached to the stem of a pipe, and extends to fit over each ear of the smoker.
2 Claims, 3 Drawing Figures PIPE HOLDER DEVICE SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to a device which holds a smoker's pipe in his mouth and particularly to a wire frame device which fastens to the stem of a pipe and extends to fit over each ear of the smoker.
The device is readily attached to the stern of any pipe, and is adjustable to the size and shape of the pipe and the head of the wearer.
The device consists of two shaped lengths of metal wire held together by a metal ring at their junction with the pipe, and formed at the pipe end in loops that fit about the pipe stem. The other end of each wire length is shaped to extend about the side of the users head and over one ear.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Turning now descriptively to the drawing, in which similar reference characters denote similar elements throughout the several views, FIG. 1 illustrates the pipe holder device holding a smoking pipe in the mouth of a smoker 13. The device 10 comprises two lengths of solid wire attached at one end to the pipe stem 16 by means of loops, and extending at the other end around each car 14 of the user 13.
As shown in FIGS. 1-3, each length 12 of the wire frame 10 is bent at one end to form a curved semicircular loop 17 around the circumference of the pipe stem 16. Each wire is then bent back under the stem 16 of the pipe 15 towards the mouthpiece end 31 of the pipe stem, then being bent in a second halfloop 21 about the pipe stem 16, with the two loops 21 joined by a metal ring 11. The two lengths 12 of the wire frame are then each bent away from each other so as to pass about each side of the users head, with each length terminating in a loop section 14 shaped to fit about an ear 20 of the user.
Since obvious changes may be made in the specific embodiment of the invention described herein, such modifications being within the spirit and scope of the invention claimed, it is indicated that all matter contained herein is intended as illustrative and not as limiting in scope.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
1. A wire frame device for fastening a smoking pipe in a users mouth, said frame being shaped so as to be attachable to the stem of a smoking pipe and incorporating two lengths of wire that are each shaped to fit about an ear of the user.
2. The combination recited in claim 1 in which the frame is formed of two lengths of wire, shaped at one end in curved sections of a size to fit half-way about the stern of a smoking pipe, said sections having portions abutting each other adjacent to the pipe stem, a metal ring joining said lengths together adjacent to said portions.

Claims (2)

1. A wire frame device for fastening a smoking pipe in a user''s mouth, said frame being shaped so as to be attachable to the stem of a smoking pipe and incorporating two lengths of wire that are each shaped to fit about an ear of the user.
2. The combination recited in claim 1 in which the frame is formed of two lengths of wire, shaped at one end in curved sections of a size to fit half-way about the stem of a smoking pipe, said sections having portions abutting each other adjacent to the pipe stem, a metal ring joining said lengths together adjacent to said portions.
