The invention relates to a knapsack waterre'servoi r.

The improvement consists in the novel features, hereinafter described, claimed, and

shown in the annexed drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device. Fig. 2is a transverse section on .the line a: x of Fig l, and Fig. 3 is a detail view.

The object of the invention is to do away withbuckets and kegs in the hands of porters attached to uniformed bodies on parade, and produce a reservoir for water which in appearance will resemble the regulation-knapsack, and a separate reservoir for fluid, presenting the appearance of a blanket, and designated hereinafter as the false-blanket reservoir. The two reservoirs combined look like a knapsack and blanket.

The knapsack-reservoir is composed of double walls A and B, between which can be placed a suitable filling. vided with a Vent, a, closed by a suitable screw-cap. By this means the water can be drawn off when the reservoir is washed out. The top is provided with a suitable opening, sufficiently large to admit of the passage of large pieces of ice, closed by the cover A. The ends of the reservoir are extended, forming the rests a, which support the reservoir and prevent injury to the outer end of the vent a and the spigot O, which latter is let into the side of the reservoir. This spigot is located near one end, and arranged, preferably, on the inner side, so as "not to be too conspicuous.

In the drawings, the false-blanket reservoir E is shown as provided with two compartments. It is evident, however, that it may be provided with a greater or less number. It is secured upon the top of. the knapsackreservoir by the rests F and the straps G and H. The rest F consists of a strip of metal, having its central portion curved to conform to the periphery of the reservoir E, and having its ends bent down and secured to the top of vthe knapsack-reservoir near each side. The straps G and H are secured to the bent ends f of the rest F, and are passed through loops f',.,secured in the angle formed between the I curved portion of said rests and the bent ends.

The walls of the knapsack-reservoir consist, preferably, of thin sheet metal, and the outer wall is covered with canvas or oil-cloth, to give the appearance of the regulation-knapsack. The false-blanket reservoir, which is likewise made of sheet metal, is covered with any woolen fabrio so that it may present the appearance of a rolled blanket.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-

1. The herein shown and described knapsack, having the double walls, the removable cover, and the spigot adapted to receive the rubber tube, as and for the purpose described.

2. The combination, with theknapsack, and the supportscomposed of strips having their ends secured to the sides thereof, and having the middle portion curved downwardly, as shown, of the false-blanket reservoir fitted in the curved portion of the supports, and the straps for holding it in place, substantially as described.

3. The herein shown and described reservoir-knapsack, having double walls and a spigot, and the false-blanket'reservoir subdi vided into a series of compartments, anda tube leading from each compartment, substantially as and for the purpose described. 7
