UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
lMPRovl-:D HEEL FOR BOOTS OR SHOES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 35,377, dated May 27, 1862.
To all whom t may concern.-
Beit known that I, FREDERIC KETTLER, of Milwaukee, State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and Improved Metallic I-Ieel forl Boots or Shoes; 4and ,I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description there of, reference being had to the accompanying drawings,and to the letters of reference marked thereon.'
The nature of my invention consists in an improvement on metallic heels for boots or shoes.
The purpose of this invention is to construct a cheap, neat, and durable heel.
Figure 1- gives a profile view of this heel. Fig. 2 is a sectional View of the saine. Fig. 3
shows the rows of nails at the bottom. Fig.
4 is a side view of those nails.
Fig. l represents the iron casing of this heel with the teeth A, by means of which the heel is fastened to the boots or shoes.
Fig. 2 shows the angle B. vThis consists OI a piece of sheetiron,which is bent in the shape of an angle and which runs parallel with the outer casing. What I claim as my invention, anddesire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A heel composed of an iron casing constructed with the teeth, as described, in combination with a filling in whole' or only in the tread, of gutta-percha.
2. The combination of the casing, con-A structed, as described, with a covering, up to the line of the teeth, of guttapercha, and a filling of the same or other material, in the manner described.
