Cl. 242-5553 3 Claims ABSTRACT F THE DISCLOSURE A holder for paper rolls for example as used in bathrooms and the like which is adapted to be mounted vertically with paper from the roll being removed by upwardly unrolling same from the roll.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION My holder includes a vertical hollow body adapted to be detachably secured to a side wall. The body has a downwardly and outwardly tapering neck terminating in a main enlarged body section. The neck has a top horizontal opening. The section has a bottom horizontal opening larger than the neck opening. A cap detachably engages the bottom opening. Roll supported means detachably receive and support the roll, these means extending upward from the cap inside the section. As a result, when the roll is used, the paper is unrolled upwardly through the section and neck and out of the neck opening.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring now to FIGS. l, 2 and 4, a hollow neck 10 having a top disposed horizontal square opening 12 flares outward and downward to a main hollow enlarged body section 14 having the shape of a larger square. Section 14 has a bottom disposed horizontal square opening 16 much larger than opening 12. A lid or cover 18 for opening 12 is hingedly secured to one side thereof as shown at 20.

A square shaped cap 22 has an outer lip 24 with inwardly and oppositely disposed snap element 26 detachably engaging dimples 28 on opposite sides of the outer surface of section 14 whereby the cap detachably engages the opening 16.

First and second oppositely disposed vertical walls 30 which taper upward and inward extend upward from the cap into the section 14. Each of these Walls has a hole 32.

A roll of paper 34 has an axle or rod 36 extending through the axial bore 38 of the roll and detachably engaged in holes 32. As shown, paper can be unrolled upwardly through section 14 and neck 10 and out of opening 12. The paper can be torn off using an edge of opening 12 as a guide.

As shown in FIGS. 3 and 5, the roll can be disposed 3,523,653 Patented Aug. l1, 1970 ice with its axial bore 38 extending vertically rather than horizontally and the paper can be unrolled upward out of the bore.

FIG, 6 shows a modification similar to that of FIG. 3 except that the lip 24 of cap 22 (which is round) has a thread which engages the outer threads of section 14 (which has a circular cross section).

In FIG. 6, the vertical walls 30' are adapted to be placed into close fitting relationship to the outside of the paper roll 34 and positioned between and in contact with said section 14 and the cap 22.

In FIG. 6, the neck and body portions form an integral smoothly curved shape with neck and bottom circular openings 12 and 16'. The function however is the same as above.

While I have described my invention with particular reference to the drawings, my protection is to be limited only by the terms of the claims which follow.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. Apparatus forholding a roll of paper comprising:

a hollow circular vertical body having a downwardly and outwardly tapering neck terminating in a main enlarged body section, said neck having a circular, top disposed, horizontal opening, said section having a circular, bottom disposed, horizontal opening, the neck opening being smaller than the section opening;

a cap detachably engaging said body adjacent said bottom opening; and

roll support means for detachably receiving and lixedly supporting said roll on a vertical axis, said means extending upward from said cap inside said section, said paper being unrolled from a center bore of said roll upwardly through the neck opening when the roll is used.

2. Apparatus for holding a roll of paper comprising:

a hollow vertical body having a downwardly and outwardly tapering neck terminating in a main enlarged body section, said neck having a top disposed horizontal opening, said section having a bottom disposed horizontal opening, the neck opening being smaller than the section opening;

a cap detachably engaging said body adjacent said bottom opening;

roll support means for detachably receiving and supporting said roll, said means extending upward from said cap inside said section, said paper being unrolled upwardly through the neck opening when the roll is used; and

a lid for said neck opening, said lid being hingedly secured to said body adjacent one side of said neck opening.

3. Apparatus as set forth in claim 2 wherein said means includes two parallel vertically spaced apart upwardly and inwardly tapering walls, an axle extending through said roll, said walls supporting said axle and roll in a horizontal position therebetween.
