Long Island, NY. 11946 Filed Apr. 24, 1964, Ser. No. 362,287 Claims. (Cl. 128-460) The present invention relates to cosmetic applicators and, more specifically, to new and improved gloves for the application of cream, oil, or the like to the skin of a persons hands.

There are known many hand lotions, creams, oils or the like for smoothing, strengthening or generally beautifying the skin of a persons hands, and those lotions or the the like are applied simply by rubbing the same on the skin. This procedure, even if diligently carried out, will not attain the so-called depth penetration and thoroughly working the oil into the skin which is desirable for obtaining maximum effects and best results.

Therefore, one object of the present invention is the provision of gloves of the character described which can be worn after a simple, short application of oil, cream or lotion to a persons hands, and which willwhile being worn-automatically work the oil, or the cream or the like into the skin, simply by the motion of a person opening and closing his or her hands and carrying out ordinary activities.

Another object of the present invention is the provision of gloves of the character described which also will apply heat to a persons hands, so as to increase the absorption of the oil, cream or the like into the skin.

A further object of the present invention is the provision of gloves of the character described which will avoid any finger marks such as are usually left on objects touched by the hands of a person who has applied thereto any hand cream or the like, which will avoid any sticking and messiness, and which will greatly facilitate the application of hand creams or oil, and also will reduce the time necessary for such application to a minimum.

With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter more fully described and pointed out in the claims, it being understood that changes may be made in the construction and arrangements of parts of the embodiments disclosed without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.

In the accompanying drawing I have set forth an illustrative embodiment of my invention.

Similar reference characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.

Referring first to FIGS. 1 and 2, the numeral 1 denotes a glove of plastic material or the like which fits snugly on a persons hand and which has a sufficient wall thickness, or portions increased in thickness, for being provided with cup-shaped cavities 2 on its inner side. Flexible electric heating elements, such as heat wires 3, are extended through the wall portions of the glove, particularly through the back and finger sections thereof.

The electrical heating elements 3 are connected, by means of a thin flexible cable 4 and a contact plug 5, to a 3,298,368 Patented Jan. 17, 1967 source of electrical current so that the glove can be heated while it is being Worn.

The cavities 2 create a suction effect while a person wearing tight-fitting glove opens and closes or otherwise moves his or.her fingers, and simultaneously the heat emanating from the elements 3 improves and hastens substantially the absorption of the oil, cream or the like.

Referring now to FIGS. 3 and 4, the numeral 7 denotes a first glove, which has on its inner sides cavities 10 that are identical to the cavities 2 of FIGS. 1 and 2. The glove 7 is designed to be worn directly over a persons skin, and it differs from the glove 1 of FIGS. 1 and 2 only in so far as that it is not provided with any heating elements. A second glove 11 (FIG. 4) is somewhat larger than the glove 7 and is designed for being worn over the first glove 7. The second glove 11 is provided with electrical heating elements 12, which may be the same as the heating elements 3 of FIGS. 1 and 2, and which can be connected to a source of electrical current by means of a flexible thin cable 15 and a contact plug 17. The arrangement of FIGS. 3 and 4 allows a person to wear either the glove 7 alone for suction-massage action, or to wear it together with the glove 11 for the addition of heat application. For instance, if a person wants to apply the cream or the like while sleeping, he or she may remove the gloves 11 and wear only a pair of gloves 7.

Instead of the cable 4 or 15 there can be used a rechargeable battery 20 for supplying energy for the heating elements of either the glove 1 or 11, as is indicated in FIG. 5. The battery 20 preferably is attached to the outer back portion of the glove.

Since certain changes may be made in the above article and different embodiments of the invention could be made without departing from the scope thereof, it is intended that all matter contained in the above description or shown in accompanying drawing shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

It is also to be understood that the following claims are intended to cover all of the generic and specific features of the invention herein described, and all statements of the scope of the invention which as a matter of language might be said to fall therebetween.

Having thus fully described my said invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent in the United States is:

1. A hand cream applicator comprising a hand covering having an inner surface and an outer surface,

said hand covering defining a pocket adapted to receive snugly a hand therein,

and suction means on the inner surface of said covering for applying a suction to a hand received in said pocket,

said suction means comprising a plurality of spaced open cup-shaped depression in said covering which extend inwardly toward said outer surface from said inner surface,

whereby said inner surface is adapted to contact a hand inserted into said pocket and said plurality of depressions are adapted to create a suction effect on portions of the hand when the covering is flexed.

2. A hand cream applicator according to claim 1,

and heating means extending through said applicator between said inner and outer surfaces for heating a hand inserted into said pocket,

and connecting means for connecting said heating means with a source of energy.

3. A hand cream applicator as in claim 2,

and a source of energy on the outer surface of said covering for energizing said heating means.

4. A hand cream applicator in accordance with claim 1 including a glove sized to fit over said hand covering,

ing a hand received in said hand covering and said glove,

and lead means for connecting said heating means with a source of energy.

5. A hand cream applicator as in claim 4,

and a source of energy on the outer surface of said glove adapted to energizesaid heating means.

Claims (1)

1. A HAND CREAM APPLICATOR COMPRISING A HAND COVERING HAVING AN INNER SURFACE AND AN OUTER SURFACE, SAID HAND COVERING DEFINING A POCKET ADAPTED TO RECEIVE SNUGLY A HAND THEREIN, AND SUCTION MEANS ON THE INNER SURFACE OF SAID COVERING FOR APPLYING A SUCTION TO A HAND RECEIVED IN SAID POCKET, SAID SUCTION MEANS COMPRISING A PLURALITY OF SPACED OPEN CUP-SHAPED DEPRESSION IN SAID COVERING WHICH EXTEND INWARDLY TOWARD SAID OUTER SURFACE FROM SAID INNER SURFACE, WHEREBY SAID INNER SURFACE IS ADAPTED TO CONTACT A HAND INSERTED INTO SAID POCKET AND SAID PLURALITY OF DEPRESSIONS ARE ADAPTED TO CREATE A SUCTION EFFECT ON PORTIONS OF THE HAND WHEN THE COVERING IS FLEXED.
