Description

March 20, 1956 E. H. SCHULTZ, JR 2,738,539
CASTER BRACKET Filed June 5, 1955 invention has provided a novel structure, wherein the factured from sheet material stock and has considerable strength and rigidity.
While the preferred embodiment of the present invention has been shown and described herein, it is obvious that the novel caster mounting bracket may be secured to various articles in addition to the described dolly and that various structural details may be changed without departing from the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
This invention is claimed as follows:
1. A bracket of the type described, comprising socket means adapted to receive a caster pintle or the like, an attachment portion connected with said socket means, said attachment portion including a pair of sections extending away from each other for substantially traversing angularly disposed surfaces of a structure to be supported, an insert disposed between said sections and having sides secured to each of said sections, flange means extending from each side of said insert and adapted to slide upwardly along and interengage with other surfaces on a structure to be supported and angularly disposed with respect to said first mentioned surfaces, and additional flange means extending from said attachment portion and engageable with said structure for limiting upward movement of the bracket relative to said structure, whereby said flange means securely mount the bracket on said structure.
2. A bracket of the type described, comprising socket means adapted to receive a caster pintle and the like, an attachment portion connected with said socket means, said attachment portion including a pair of angularly disposed sections extending away from each other, a generally V-shaped insert disposed between said sections and having sides secured to each of said sections, said insert having generally vertically disposed free edge portions terminating in inturned flange means, and said attachment portion having generally horizontally disposed flange means extending from lower marginal portions thereof.
3. A bracket of the type described, comprising an elongated generally vertically disposed sheet material socket portion adapted to receive a caster pintle, a pair of arm sections integral with and extending laterally from said socket, outer end portions of said arm sections being disposed in diverging relationship, an attachment portion connected with said outer end portions of said arm sections, said attachment portion including a pair of angularly disposed sections, vertically disposed inwardly directed flange means extending from adjacent free ends of each or said last mentioned sections, and generally horizontally disposed flange means extending from adjacent a lower margin of at least one of said last mentioned sections.
4. A bracket, as defined in claim 3, wherein said attachment portion includes a generally V-shaped insert disposed between and secured to said attachment portion sections, and at least some of said flange means are integral with said insert.
5. A device of the type described, comprising a structure to be supported, which structure includes a pair of angularly disposed members joined together and pro viding a corner, a block disposed within said corner and secured to said members said block having vertically extending recesses insides thereof disposed against said members, which recesses provide slot means between each of said members and said block, a bracket including a pair of diverging sections overlying said block, each of said sections terminating in flange means removably insertable into one of said slot means for connecting the bracket to said block, additional flange means extending from lower edges of said sections and projecting beneath said block to limit upward movement of said bracket relative to said block, and socket means integrally interconnected with and disposed laterally of adjacent edges of said sections, and support means carried by said socket means.
