Description

Oct. 23, 1951 F. GILLESSEN 2,572,331
SANITARY AND HYGIENIC GIRDLE Filed March 9, 1949 Patented Oct. 23, 1951 Fred Gillessen, Milan, Italy Application March 9, 1949, Serial No. 80,385 In Italy March 13, 1948 3 Claims. (01. 128-289) The present invention relates to a sanitary and hygienic girdle for women.
The object of the present invention is to provide a girdle of the above mentioned type, which consists completely of rubber and comprises a boat-shaped member adapted to receive absorbent material and connected to a belt by means of suitable spaced strips.
The girdle according to the invention comprises a belt, an impermeable boat-shaped member for receiving absorbent material, and two angle-shaped front strips connecting two spaced points on the front portion of said belt with two spaced corners located at the ends of the upper edge of said boat-shaped member. The belt portion between said spaced points, the two front strips and said upper edge of the boat-shaped member form a hexagon, while two angle-shaped rear strips connecting two spaced points on the rear portion of said belt, which converge into one strip connected to the rear end of the boatshaped member form a pentagon with the rear portion of the belt between said spaced points. The vertices of the angle-shaped front strips and the vertices of the angle-shaped rear strips are horizontally aligned and connected by two thongs for holding said strips in place. All parts of the girdle consist of an elastic rubber-like material.
The lateral and central strips have the purpose of keeping in place the boat-shaped member, in order to avoid an adverse effect on the figure of the wearer and to give a sense of safety to the wearer. The absorbent material is used preferably in the form of tablets which become soft when unwound or opened.
In the device according to the invention, the absorbent cotton can be quickly changed and the device can be washed quickly as it consists completely of rubber and does not contain pins or seams. Another advantage consists in the small dimensions of the device. V
The device can be used with every kind of clothing, because the device adheres to the body,
is impermeable and gives a pleasant feeling of safety. The device gives a long wear and its costs are low, because they are limited to the tablets of absorbent material.
The appended drawings illustrate diagrammatically and by way of example an embodiment of the invention.
Figure 1 is the front view of a girdle worn by a woman; Figure 2 is a rear View of the girdle shown in Figure 1, on a smaller scale and Figure 3 is a perspective view of the girdle illustrated in Figures 1 and 2.
As shown in the drawings, the device of the invention comprises a belt I of rubber-like elastic material, which is provided with suitable means for closing and opening the belt. Two strips 2 and 3 are attached to the front part of belt I. Two rear strips 5 and 5, which have a diverging direction are also attached to belt I. Strips 2 and 3 are provided with extensions 2 and 3' and are connected to the front part of boatshaped member 6. Rear strips 4 and 5 are provided with extensions 4 and 5, which converge to a point where they are connected to vertical strip 1, which, in turn, is connected to the rear end of boat-shaped member 6.
The vertex of the angles formed by elements 2 and 2 and 3 and 3, respectively, is extended to form thongs 8 and 9 which secure the desired position of said strips as well as the position of strips i l and 5-5, to which thongs 8 and 9 are connected. The purpose of these thongs is to keep the other elements of the device adherent to the body of the wearer.
The boat-shaped member 6 is provided at its sides with two protruding edges 8' of a cylindrical shape, which make it more resistant and serve to keep the absorbent material in the device.
It will be understood that the invention is not limited to the specific details disclosed and can be carried out with various modifications without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
I claim:
1. A sanitary and hygienic girdle for women, comprising in combination a belt, an impermeable boat-shaped member for receiving absorbent material, two angle-shaped front strips connecting two spaced points on the front portion of said belt with two spaced corners located at the ends of the upper edge of said boat-shaped member, the belt port on between said spaced points, the two front strips and said upper edge of the boat-shaped member forming a hexagon; two angle-shaped rear strips connecting two spaced points on the rear portion of said belt, said strips converging into one strip which is connected to the rear end of the boat-shaped member, said rear strips and the rear portion of the belt between said spaced points forming a pentagon, the vertices of the angle-shaped front strips and the vertices of the angle-shaped rear strips being horizontally aligned and connected by two thongs for holding said strips in place, all parts of the girdle consisting of an elastic rubber-like material.
2. A girdle as claimed in claim 1, in which the boat-shaped member is provided with cylindrical- 4 1y reinforced edges for preventing deformation UNITED STATES PATENTS and tear of said member. Number Name Date 3. A girdle as claimed in claim the parts of 2 02 007 Pecknold Jan. 1 93 which form an integral unit. 2 309297 B e J 2 1943 FEED GHLESSEN erg r an 6,
