LEADER HOLDER Albert G. Lampe, Madison, Wis., assignor of forty-nine per cent to Gordon Engineering, Inc., Madison, Wis., a corporation of Wisconsin Application December 12, 1949, Serial No. 132,537
2 v 23, as will be readily apparent from Figure. A coil spring 30 is Wound about the socket member 26 and interposed between the head thereof and the base of the body portion I4, the spring An important object of this invention is to 5 being so tensioned as to normally urge the cups provide a leader holder which is relatively simple together or into a closed position. Thus, it will in design and construction, cheap to manufacture be seen that the distance between the assembled in large quantities, easy to assemble for use, light cups may be adjustably varied and resiliently in Weight, and very efficient for its intended purretained in this adjusted position by merely DOSS- turning the headed screw 28.
A further object of this invention is to provide Embracing the body portions I2 and I4 when a device of the character described which is also they are in an assembled position is a sleeve 32 adapted to securely and removably retain swivels, which is positioned between the cup anges I6 hooks, and similar objects in addition to leaders. and I8. In view of the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, it is believed that a clear understanding of the device will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed'unnecessary.
It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention, the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and within the scope of the appended claims.
Having described the invention, what claimed as new is:
1. A leader holder comprising a pair of cups each having a cylindrical body portion and a flange, means for resiliently retaining the body portions together, a sleeve embracing said assembled -body portions and received between said .anges, resilient holding rings encompassing said sleeve, and means for securely retaining said rings on said sleeve.
2. The combination of claim l wherein said rings are made of rubber each including an enlarged peripheral portion, a flange abutting said sleeve, and a reduced shank portion interconnecting said enlarged portion and said ange, the enlarged portions of said rings abutting each other and cooperating with said shanks and anges to form annular spaces for removably receiving leaders and similar fishing tackle.
3. The combination of claim 2 wherein said means for retainingsaid rings on said sleeve includes inturnedflips at the free edges of said cup anges engaging the enlarged portions of the outermost rings adjacent said cup iianges.
4. The combination of claim 1 wherein said means for resiliently retaining the body portions together includes a spring-urged screw extending through the body portions of said cups.
