Description

March 27, 1951 G. HERON 2,546,505
REMOVABLE COVER FOR MOPS Filed Oct. 29, 1949 INVENTOR' M M, 4 m cam %w? HER ATTORNEYS.
Patented Mar. 27, 1951 UNHTED STATES OFFECE This invention relates to removable covers for mops of the ordinary type, or any similar article for cleaning.
The invention is embodied in an envelope type cover having a body portion and overlapping facing portions and in its combination with an ordinary cleaning device such as a mop.
The principal object or the present invention is to provide a removable cover for mops of the ordinary type which is easily cleaned.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a surface on an ordinary mop which is more suitable for clz-xanin purposes than the ordinary surface of the mop.
Another object of this invention is to provide a covering device for a mop when said mop is being used thereby extending the life of the mop beyond that which is normally expected.
These and other objects and advantages will become apparent hereinafter.
In the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification and wherein like numerals refer to like parts wherever they occur:
Fig. 1 is a top plan view of my mop covering device,
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the device assembled on a mop of the ordinary type, and
Fig. 3 is a vertical cross-sectional view taken along the line 33 in Fig. 2.
This removable mop covering device comprises a body portion 2 with two facing portions 3 and 4 secured thereto, said facing portions 3 and d disposed in overlapping relationship forming a slot 5 which receives a mop 9 having a handie 1. The mop covering device l hugs the mop 6 and the handle 7 thereof and requires no fastening means. The mop covering device i may be formed by making the body portion 2 and the two facing portions 3 and t in separate pieces and joining them together by any suitable means such as stitching, or the mop covering device I may be made from one piece of material with the ends thereof folded inwardly to form the overlapping facing portions 3 and 4.
Obviously the body portion 2 and the two facing portions 3 and 4 may be made from any material suitable for cleaning or dusting. The
material used should be closely woven so as to 1 Claim. (Cl. 115-247 keep the mop clean and should be fleecy to attract and hold dust particles. I prefer to use a flannel material, preferably canton flannel.
Obviously, the hereinbefore described removable cover for mops admits of considerable modification without departing from the invention except as defined in the claim. Therefore, I do not wish to be limited to the precise arrangements shown and described.
What I claim is:
A mop covering device adapted to be to a mop having a handle with cords secured to one end thereof, the covering comprising a substan ially flat body portion and two facing portions affixed to the body portion about the periphery thereof with the adjacent ends of the facing portions disposed in overlapping relation transversely of the body portion substantially in REFERENCES CITED The following references are of record in the file of this patent:
