The improved stove is more particularly intended for use as a camp stove, and is designed to be folded into a very small space so that it may be placed in the trunk or luggage compartment of an automobile.
The stove consists of eight parts, to wit, two side plates IB; a back plate Il, a front plate I2; an ash pan I3; a top plate I4; and two open grills, one of which serves as a lire-supporting grate l5, and the other of which serves as a'broiling grill 43.
All of the plates except the grills are formed from relatively thin sheet metal. The vertical side edges of the back plate Il and the front plate l2 are turned outwardly, inwardly, and backwardly to form relatively square, hollow beads I5 extending vertically on each side of each of these members.

The 'side pla-tes '10 are Cut -away 'along their lower portions, as shown "at T8, for the admission "o'f primary' combustion air. These two plates are exactly similar 'in construction, 'and each carries three vertically spaced and vertically @lished hook A'clip's T9 along its vertical, medial line secured thereto by ymeans of suitable rivets 2t, Vor in any -otlrerjdeslred manner. 'The upper edges ofthe side plates are rolled outwardly to "formoutwardlyfexterrdln'g fstllrenng nanges 2l., and the lower ledges are 'rolled inwardly Jto 'form foot flanges '22 The pack plate l1 contains a smoke opening 23 surrounded j:by a smoke 'stack collar '2t adjacent its' 'upper extremity. The back plate also carries three pairs of hooked clips "25 riveted or otherwise secured to its 'inner surface, each in horizontal alignment with one ci the 'three clips I9 on the side plates. The back plate H is anged outwardly at the top to form a, top stillening flange 36 and a bottom stiliening llange 3l.
The top of the front plate I2 is flanged outwardly to form a top stiffening flange Sli, and is flanged inwardly at the bottom to form a bottom stiffening llange 35. The front plate l2 is provided with a draft opening controlled by means of a vertically slidable door 26 operating in door guides 21, and also contains a hre door 28 mounted thereon upon suitable hinges 29 at the -bottom of the door. The door 2t is provided With a swinging latch 3D by means of which it may be locked in the closed position by engaging a keeper 3|. The door is also provided with a sliding damper `32 which controls secondary air openings 33.
The ash pan I3 is provided with a downwardly extending peripheral flange 38, which lits into the embrace of the hooked clips I9 and 25 adjacent the bottom of the stove, and with a convenient handle 39 by means of which it may be readily lifted from or placed in position.
The grills I5 and 42 are identical and each consists of a plurality of longitudinally extending, parallel rods welded at their extremities to transverse angle members 40. A stilening rod lll is welded across the middle portion of all of the rods and terminates in downwardly extending angle cli-ps 42.
The top plate I4 consists of a smooth sheet metal plate with its edges rolled downward and inward, as shown at 44.
It will be noted that all of the eight parts of the stove are relatively at and can be piled upon each other and tied in a convenient ilat bundle for transportation or storage.
To erect the stove, the beads I6 of the front and back plates I I and I2 are slid down the channels of the two side plates I to form an enclosed structure. The ash pan I3, the fire grill I5, and the broiling grill 43 are put in place in the clips I9 and 25 to rigidly maintain the four walls in rectangular relation. The top or frying plate I4 is then slid over the top of the broiling grilly 43, as shown in Fig. 2, and the stove is ready for use. For broiling meat, etc., the plate I4 may be completely removed, as shown in Fig. 1, or may be simply pulled back to expose a suiiicient area of the broiling grill 43.
To dismantle the stove, it is only necessary to slide the top plate from place, and then lift the grills and the ash pan I 3 from place. The two end members then can be easily slid from engage with the side members.
While a specie form of the improvement has been described and illustrated herein, it i-s desired to be understood that the same may be varied, within the scope of the appended claim, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed and desired secured by Letters Patent is:
A collapsible stove 4comprising side walls and iront and rear walls, al1 formed of sheet metal, said side walls having lower end portions out to form longitudinally extending recesses constituting air inlets and all of said walls having upper and lower edge portions bent laterally and forming inwardly extending lower flanges and outwardly extending upper flanges, said sides having front and rear end portions bent inwardly to form vertically extending tubular channels each open along its inner side, the front and rear walls hav- 4 ing side edge portions bent outwardly to form vertically extending hollow tubular beads fitting snugly in the channels through the open sides thereof and cooperating with the channels to detachably hold the walls together and reinforce corners of the stove, said front wall having a lower ash pit opening and an upper fire opening, doors movable into and out of closing relation to ysaid openings, upper, lower and intermediate sets of clips secured against inner surfaces of said wallsv and having upwardly projecting bills `spaced from the walls, an ash pan and a grate and a grill tting within the stove and having depending marginal flanges engaging between the walls and the bills and thereby removably supported, the ash 'pan and the grate being flush with lower edges of the openings in the front wall and the grill flush with the upper flanges of all of the walls, and a removable top plate of sheet metal having side edge portions bent downwardly and inwardly to form side anges engaging under and upper flanges of the side walls and its front end bent downwardly and rearwardly to form a front iange engaging under and upper flange of the front wall when the top plate is slid rearwardly along the side walls to a position at rest upon the grill closing the top of the stove and disposing its rear end upon the upper iiange of the rear Wall.
